The driver side door lock is stuck, the door won't open from the outside. I turn the key but it won't go all the way up. This happens when I lock it from the inside of the door before exiting the vehicle. It's not a power windows/locks Ford Ranger, it's all manual. If I exit the vehicle, then lock the driver side door with the key, the door works fine when I want to re-enter, unless I pull the handle first before unlocking it. In that case, the door lock won't go all the way up and stay up in position when I turn the key after that and I have to re-enter from the passenger side again. I hope that makes sense. Anyone know whats wrong, or where I can find the door assembly schematic / diagram?

Re: The driver side door lock wont go all the way up.
The outside door handle spring is broke ,or the latch spring is broke. The only way to tell is remove the door panel and inspect the rod from the handle to latch. Look for broken spring on handle. I have installed an external spring from the handle rod to latch to keep the rod in the full up position.

Sounds like the lock mechanism is stuck on the locked position. Since you didn't specify make and model this is a best guess. Make sure the lock is in the unlock position and try manipulating the rod connected to the outside handle (since child lock is on the inside handle won't work)
Remove the door lining and look inside by the lock. There is a linkage that has come adrift. To remove the door lining, remove handles, escutcheons, and arm rests. Using a wide blade screw driver gently pop the plastic rivets that hold the lining to the door.
It sounds like you might have two door latches that are faulty.... But you can try disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes and reconnect to see if that solves it. Sometimes VW's need their memory reset, have seen weird problems happen and this fixes it a lot of the time.
the valet key doesnt have a transponder chip in it, so it will allow physical turning of keyways and operations, but will not disable the alarm and often wont disable the immobilizer.
sorry to say i think you will need to get an autolocksmith , or main dealer to get you a functioning key with transponder chip mapped to your cars rfid system that will allow alarm to be enabled /disabled
1) Key turns but dose not unlock door. This means that the rod that goes to the back of the lock has came off. This also means that is the reason door is not unlocking with the remote as it pops the lock rod inside the door which pushes the lock open. 2) Key does not turn lock at all but works passengers side door. This means that the locks has been changed in the door, but that doesn't sound like the problem as you say the remote doesn't open the drivers side door so more than likely the rod has came off the back of the lock
My friend just had this problem and he reached in and pulled the inside door handle back as far as it would go, and then let it go, allowing it to 'snap' back. For some reason this fixed it. We have no idea why. By doing this on one door, both rear door locks freed up and the rear locks are now working. Before, both rear locks were stuck and you could not open the doors from the inside nor the outside. Not sure why it works, but maybe it will work for you!
sounds like the door lach is sticking
use some wd40 spray the lock and let it sit 4 a while
now since you have the inside skin off reach inside the door with 1 hand and try and open the door from the outside and see if the lock bar moves it usualy pushes down i think on a lach
if it goes up and down with no resistance make sure it is contacting the lach if yes make sure the door is unlocked
somtimes the lock is just stuck
after unlock open the door
push down on lock bar attached to lock then pull up on it if that fails to open door
after that all fails unlock door have friend pull handle and then give the door a good kick from inside just remember not the kick the glass
