Question about 2000 Ford Explorer

I have a slow coolant leak, can't find it anywhere. My lower radiator hose has coolant on the outer hose, but dosen't look like it is leaking from there ?

You need to pressure test it that will show any leaks..If you know someone with a pressure tester or check at our local parts store for a loaner tool ....the tool for a basic one is around $30 and up so good luck hope this helps

Lower radiator hose or core


Before you go replacing a radiator, you need to check out why the quick overheat. Most likely due to low coolant which indicates a leak. Yes the core could be leaking...but it is not the most likely problem. If there is coolant dripping from the lower hose, it could be a simple matter of the lower hose clamp just needing to be tightened. They do work loose occasionally. Check the clamp, and tighten if needed. With the vehicle cold, check and refill the coolant in the both the radiator and the reservoir bottle. Run the vehicle to normal temperature and observe all connection points. IF no leaks are seen, use the vehicle normally and monitor coolant level for a week or so to ensure that you have solved the problem. If you are still loosing coolant, but have no visible signs of loss (drips or puddles under vehicle), then the problem could be a worn out water pump. They often tend to leak only when running and the lost coolant often evaporates on the engine block out of sight.

Can be a cracked radiator, bad hoses leaking at the thermostat or the upper intake or lower intake maybe even a head gasket blown. Your looking at around 400 if u got a leak anywhere other that a radiator or hoses

2001 GMC Sierra low on coolant once a week


Slow leak.Could be almost anywhere.look for whiteish green corosion at hose connections,on the intake on the radiator or bottom of water opump to start.

COOLANT LEAK


Is it a slow leak or fast leak? The first thing you need to do is determine where the leak is coming from. Look at the radiator hose ends, the radiator itself, the thermostat housing, the heater core hoses, the water pump housing, just anywhere coolant would go. Once you've found it, get back to me.

1992 Toyota 4Runner, overheats, radiator,upper and lower hoses and thermostat new. Water pump has about 10,000 miles. upper hose heats up, lower hose stays cold. Heater blows only cold air. Help

I am having a problem with antifreeze smell and leak. I can't see where the leak is coming from but I do see spots on the ground. It does not over heat but it does have a sent of pancake syrup once heated....


LEAK COULD BE COMING FROM RADIATOR.WHEN YOU FIRST START VECHICLE UP IN MORNING LET ENGINE IDLE TO GET UNTIL THERMOSTAT OPEN AND COOLANT PRESSURE BUILD UP. TURN ENGINE.OFF. RAISE HOOD YOU WILL SEE LEAK. THE COOLANT PRESSURE WILL PUSH OUT ANTIFREEZE.LOOK FOR LEAKS AROUND TOP RADIATOR HOSE AND LOWER RADIATOR HOSE.LOOK ON SIDES RADIATOR AND LOOK BELOW RADIATOR AREA WHERE COOLANTS FANS LOCATED RADIATOR CORES WILL LEAK AND LOOK AROUND WATER PUMP + BYPASS HOSE + CHECK HEATER HOSES TO HEATER CORE THAT GOES THROUGH BACK LOWER FIRE WALL.

Radiator leaking replaced thermostat radiator startied leaking does it have to be bleed or is it A true leak


If it's pushing coolant out from under the cap, you may have another problem (head gasket or cracked cylinder head) but if the leak is anywhere else on the radiator (except hose connections) then the radiator needs to be repaired or replaced. Always re-fill coolant with the engine running and heat on high to avoid any air pockets in the system.

check all of your coolant hoses and clamps to make sure they are tight and you dont have any cracked hoses , if not you might have a leak in your radiator

Car overheating


First, plastic tube may be the overflow vent from the coolant bottle.Check to see where the attached end goes. You are going to have to check engine for coolant leaks (carefully refill system without spilling anything, then look for dripping anywhere. Look for leaks from all hoses, fittings radiator, water pump etc) After checking for leaks, start it up and check again (watch where you put your hands though) While running, check that the fan comes on when the vehicle reaches operating temp.(no fan, check fan motor, sensor & relay) Turn the heat on (does it have heat?) Check temp of lower hose and upper hose. If overheat happens, is lower hose still cold? (likely bad thermostat). If you found a leak, replace whatever is leaking...best insurance is to change thermostat after any overheat. Last, is there any white smoke from tailpipe, does engine run rough? If so, could be a failed head gasket or crack in cylinder head. (at this point last thing to worry about unless there is excessive smoke or rough run or oil in radiator or coolant in oil).
