Check the fuel filter if needs replacing. You may inspect the filter itself or check the fuel pressure before and after the filter to see if there are any differences. Check for loose vacuum hoses or holes in the hoses and in the intake of the car. There may also be loose wire or connections including the high tension wires. Check if there are sparks on all of your spark plugs. If all checked out ok you will have to have the injection system of the engine checked out. Check out your MAP sensor if it is still good. The car may not be sending ample fuel to the cylinder during acceleration.

No power on exceleration smells like gas hs a hard time pulling hills 94 saturn sohc 1.9

Start by replacing the air filter and checking the operation of the fuel pressure regulator. Have the stored codes read out of your ECU, either by an auto parts store or a local mechanic, in order to ascertain a starting point for diagnosis.

I have a whiney noise when excelerating with my 1996 Mazada MX-6. Someone suggested that it could be a power steering pump. Is that possible? Why would that cause a noise when excelerating?

It could be any part that spins and has a bearing including the power steering pump, air condition compressor, alternator, water pump etc., even if the belts are too tight!!! The easiest way to find problem is by removing each belt and see if the noise is still there.

Back fires under exceleration pressure ?

Sometimes when the ignition leads get older, they can misfire under a load.
If they haven't been changed in a while, I'd recommend this first.
