Question about 2005 GMC Envoy

1 Answer

My 2005 envoy sometimes starts a little sluggish. Lags a little. a couple of times, I have gone to start it with no luck. The battery has power, therefore it can't be the alternator either. If I let it set and wiggle the fuses under the hood, it will usually start right up without the lag. Any suggestions?

Check and see if the main fuse box under the hood is grounded good there is a ground wire just make sure it's tight also you might look at the battery wires and see if they are tight or coroated. An then you could need a set of plugs.

Sluggish ignition start

I think your mistaken. Your battery will lose cranking power as the temp drops. Warm battery may work just fine, untill it gets below freezing temps then the cranking amps are so low its sluggish. Buy a high cranking amp battery and you will be good as gold mate!

We have a 2002 Grand Cherokee that we have just bought. Dealer installed a brand new battery because of sluggish starts. In a week the battery is acting weak again, sometimes it starts fine, other times...

I was having the same issue with my 95 GMC. I replaced the battery and alternator. It would start fine at times, at other times it would be sluggish. I finally took the starter off and had it checked. Turns out the starter was bad. When it would get hot, it would act as though the battery was dead. Replaced the starter and it has not acted up again. Have the starter checked. Replace if bad.

I am having problen with my 2003 GMC Envoy. My battery is full charge and all power and lights are working, except the engine is not turning over?

what you are telling me norrows it down to a couple of things.but i would suspect a broken netural wire if you know how to check for power on the starter circuit take a good look under the hood /bonnet check the wires from the battery to the starter there should be three,black/red and an little onechech all three one is not touching it could broke /rusted or something go on you can find the fault.if all fails the starter solinoid is gone.adrian,,,,,

2005 GMC Envoy key is stuck in accessory position in the ignition with dead battery and transmission stuck in park. Will replacing battery help or is it security system lock down? If it is the security...

Jump starting the battery may be all you need. If this vehicle was not in park when the battery went dead and when you got in to start it it was dead. You then probably put it into park trying to start it.
But the issue at this time is if it was in neutral when the battery went dead the you changing the selector to park may not actually have placed the transmission in park. With electronic gear selection it actually need power to the system to place the transmission in park.
Without it really being in park the key may move to the lock position.
A bit of quess work here but I hope for you I hit the mark.

2005 GMC Envoy Locked in 4WD all the time

If your luck it's going to be a $15.00 vacuum switch on the transfer case that takes about 15 min to replace, if it's the electronic solenoid to the transfer case then it's going to be cost a little more and take a little longer. If your try switching from 4WD to 2WD and hear the solenoid working by hearing the cluck's when it engages and disengage then it's going to be the vacuum switch on top of the transfer case on the drivers side. Auto Zone Sell's them for $15.00 and they will have the step by step instructions to replacing the switch. They will also have the transfer case solenoid  too, if you don't hear the solenoid. Check the fuses, the fuse may have gone bad. Good luck and hope this helps.
