Question about 2004 GMC Envoy

1 Answer

I lost the key & transmitter for my 2004 Envoy. Had a new key made at the GMC dealer. Worked great one time. Tried later and it seems the alarm set itself. Cannot get the alarm to disengage thus letting me crank the car. I have many things no luck. Advice?

Ignition keys relearn takes about 30 min to do. 30-Minute Learn Procedure 1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF. 2. Attempt to start the engine, then release the key to ON; the vehicle will not start. 3. Observe the SECURITY tell tale light. After approximately 10 minutes, the light will turn OFF. 4. Turn OFF the ignition switch, and wait 5 seconds. 5. Repeat steps 1 through 4 - two more times - for a total of 3 cycles of 10 minutes. 3x10 = 30 minutes. The vehicle is now ready to relearn the Passlock Sensor Data Code and/or passwords on the next ignition switch turn from OFF to CRANK Important: Turn the Ignition Switch OFF. The vehicle learns the Passlock Sensor Data Code and/or password on the next ignition switch transition from OFF to CRANK. You must turn the ignition OFF before attempting to start the vehicle. 6. Start the engine. The vehicle has now learned the Passlock Sensor Data Code and/or password. 7. With a scan tool, clear any DTCs if needed. History DTCs will self clear after 100 ignition cycles. Without a scan tool you may have momentary starter interruptions while history clears itself.

I have an 04 envoy with 108,000 miles runs strong but some issues. the car will try and die out and will recover but a few minutes later it will in fact die out! my key will get stuck in the ignition....

Your problem is not with the ignition key tumbler, but rather the ignition switch. This a common failure item with the Envoy. For tips on changing the switch, visit www.trailvoy.com and do a search on ignition switch.

I agree, should of been a recall. Rockauto.com. They have high heat sockets made by Dorman. If you can find them, get porcelan.

Where do I get a tailgate window regulator for my envoy xuv?

Sorry but since it is that new it is going to be a dealer part only. Call the dealer and have them order one. It will cost you a few good dollars through the dealers.

How do I deactivate my alarm system 2004 sxt envoy

Use your manual to identify the fuse for the alarm, then deactivate the alarm and put the key in the ACC position and remove the fuse. This does not always work, so i am posting it as a clarification request.

i hope it works for you,

Cluster panel acting sporatic

Is it ALL of the gauges? My wife's 2005 Envoy Denali had a problem with the gas gauge sending unit (in the tank) that made the gauge act erratic. Also, the check engine light would stay on alot. If it is all the gauges, then it may well be the dash unit. Hope that helps some.

Can you give me the instructions for programming the remote for a 1999 Jaguar XJ8. Thanks! Alan Broyles

  1. Hold headlight flasher back.
  2. Turn ignition key to position 1.
  3. Flash headlights 4 times. Alarm will enter programming mode. This will be confirmed by "beeps" from the alarm and flashing led on gearshift. Program each transmitter (up to 5) by pressing the lock or unlock button on the each transmitter once. The alarm will "honk" when you press the transmitter button. The alarm must honk 5 times to complete the programming. Therefore, if you are only programming one transmitter you should operate the transmitter 5 times. If you are programming two transmitters you will operate one transmitter twice, and three times on the other. For five transmitters you will operate each transmitter once.
