Question about 2004 Toyota 4Runner

2 Answers

My 2004 4Runner suddenly won't start? It's in great shape and I've never had a problem with it and suddenly today when I went to put the key in to turn on the car, everything started to turn on and then just stopped. Could it really be the battery? The key-less entry and interior lighting are not working now either, but they were when I first got in the car.

Take the battery to an auto parts store and have it checked. When batteries go out, they often go out quickly with no prior indications.

Possible starter failure if the engine doesn't crank. You can try tapping on the starter motor using a blunt object while turning the key to see if it starts. If it starts, suspect a defective starter motor. If it is a manual transmission, you can push start it in gear

Red battery shaped warning dash light on now car won't start no battery no blinkers

The battery ran out of power because the alternator is not charging it.
Have the alternator output tested and take a look at the fuses.

Car wont start after I ran out of gas

Take off the smaller wire off the starter motor. Put the key in the start position and hold it there for a few seconds. Listen for the fuel pump running. If you hear it running then it feels like it stopped, then let go of the key and reinstall that wire on the starter motor. It should start.
