It is your heater core. I am confused, you say 1998 Ford Contour in Title but 1995 Bronco in the body of your question.

You are correct, the heater core is leaking, causing the odor and film. I believe the heater core is removed by 1st removing the glove box, which will expose the heater core access cover. Good luck

Dear Foggy Film......
You are correct!!! This foggy film is the result of the antifreeze leaking and then evaporating inside the cab of the vehicle. The heater core on this vehicleis located inside the evaporator case inside the vehicle's cab on the firewall up underneath the dash closer to the passenger's side. It involves about three hours labor to replace the heater core. This is a moderate to mildly intensive repair for the first timer..if you have any more questions then you're more than welcome to get back to me!!!! HOPE I COULD HELP!!!

My 2008 passat heat not working that good and I smell antifreeze I wanted toknow should I replace the heater core or can I g etaway with just flushing it

If you are smelling antifreeze inside of the vehicle there is a good chance that flushing it will make the leak worst. Are you getting a film on the inside of the windows? and is the passenger floor getting wet? These are both good indicators that the heater core is leaking and in need of replacement.

When the heater is on in my 2003 Freelander, I get a film on my windshield and front windows. There is no smell of coolant and the heater core is not leaking. Any suggestions? Running defrost doesn

I believe the film on your window is coolant vapor. To test this go to autozone or similar and get a coolant leak detection kit. The kit contains a UV flashlight a pair of glasses and a dye you add to the radiator. Add the dye to radiator, drive vehicle normally but run heater, let film condensation on Windows. Wait until dark and put on the glasses. Shine light on the Windows that have film if the window glows then the film is antifreeze vapor and not safe to breathe.

yOUR HEATER CORE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. ANTIFREEZE CONTINUALLY RUNS THROUGH YOUR HEATER CORE WITH OR WITHOUT THE HEAT OR AC BEING ON. THIS ALLOWS YOUR ANTI-FREEZE TO COOL ABIT WHEN IT RETURNS TO THE BLOCK.

This is likely the heater core leaking. Once it turns cold you will have foggy windows too.

When the heat is turned off the antifreeze stops flowing through the heater core, once it was all gone the leak would have stopped until the next time you need heat.

As a mechanic i am leaning towards a bad heater core. The core translates the heat from the cooling system into hot air for the cabin. Often times if the core is bad it leaks. check under the carpet, be keen on the smell of the antifreez and keep an eye out for foggy windows. Good luck and i hope i was able to shed some light on the situation.

Your heater core is located up behind your glove box. This is like a little radiator like under your hood. Air blows thru this to heat your car thru the heater. The liquid IS antifreeze, you have a leak in the system somewhere. The fog is humidity due to the leak.

95 escort heater core

Have you assured yourself it's the heater coil. Possible, but it can also be a small hole in one of the hoses or even in the radiator, the heat can travel up to the window causing steam and also give that odd antifreeze smell. Can you see any leaks or is it losing a lot of antifreeze?

It isn't heating correctly and i smell antifreeze. How do I check and replace a heater core in it?

If your heater core was leaking you would have antifeeze coming thru your vents and putting a greasy film on your windshield. You would smell antifreeze the stongest if it was leaking onto a hot engine part. low antifreeze will cause bad heater performance, I would check by the thermostate housing, and the water pump for leaks
