Ok the Skipping / Bucking you discribe Sounds as if it is in the Performance End of the Engine and if the CE Light is Coming on there Has to be a FAULT CODE Stored in the ECM that May very well Lead you to the Problem, Sounds to me that you need to Be SURE of ALL INJECTER's Being FUNCTIONALY SOUND and ALSO Spark Plugs Being IMPROPERLY GAPPED Will Cause this, Spark Plug WIRES Must be In Tact With NO CRACKS, BURNS, or Defects of ANY SORT. With this Millage on it if it Has been PROPERLY MAINTAINED There STILL Can be Components that Will FAIL and Need Replaced .
Also In the Future ALWAYS Have Front Suspention INSPECTED and REPAIRED )>-FIRST-<( BEFORE Installing NEW TIRES on Vehicle.

Engine stalls at idle. hard starting sometimes.can run absolutely perfect for a day or two.when engine stalls tach goes completely dead right now. cleaned out inside distributor with Wd40, thought it might...

stalls can be cause by at least 50reasons (and more for parts bad)
the #1 reason from 1920 to now, never doing tuneups.
ever read the operators guide? on tuneups? by mileage?
bingo

bar none. !
ill list (not a guess) the top three not tune up missed.
1: egr leaks. clean it, but is in the service sched for 50k on most cars made.
2: timing belt slipped.
3: isc sticking ,clean it.

the 50 ways are all under misfire, misfire causes too low RPM at idle
and has 50 failure paths. I can post the link, to the ways.
but will not.

Wouldn't you take it back to the place that
apparently did whatever they felt like & made
things worse, than when you went there, instead
of actually diagnosing the reason you were there?

Tuneup 2006 tundra

A "tune up" is not rquired on this engine, the computer makes al necessary adjustments, there is nothing to adjust. Possibly spark plug replacement if it's a V-6 they should be replaced at 30,000 miles the V-8 engines use iridium plugs which last about 100,000 miles, the timing belt on both engines should be replaced at 90,000 miles, replace the air filter every 30,000 and change oil and filter at 4,000 miles. I would aslo recommend cleaning the carbon out of the throttle body at around 60,000 miles to prevent low idle and stalling.

Hello, my 2001 saturn sl1 has some idling problems, it will idle high sometimes when we put it into parl after driving it which we weretold was our 3rd cylinder misfire. but also when we drive for a long...

A number 3 cylinder misfire will not cause a high idle-a throttle position sensor or (most likely) the Idle Air Controller is gunked up with carbon and is hanging open. It can be removed and cleaned with throttle body cleaner, just clean the bottom half and avoid spraying the inside-top as it will mess up the electronics. They aren't cheap (over $100) so it is worth a shot cleaning it. The sputtering you are experiencing IS probably a #3 misfire and that can be caused by a bad plug wire, a vacuum leak, plugs needing replaced, or possibly a coil that is defective or not grounded properly. You should have a check engine light, and that code would help greatly-I would almost expect, as a generalization, a misfire at #4 since that is the cylinder that is monitored for codes dealing with camm sensors (it doesn't have a cam sensor, that is just Saturn's way of warning you that you might need a tuneup). Your clunking when shifting is a valve body issue, and it is because the trans needs to be or has not been serviced often enough-changing the trans fluid in a Saturn is as easy as it gets, it is like an engine oil change ans should be done every 30,000 miles, at most. Change your fluid, use Dextron III and a new trans filter (it is a spin-on and lools like an engine oil filter)-do this now, do not let it go, because the trans will only get worse, and that slamming into gear will damage the input shaft.

Car was shaking and shimmying between 60 and 80 brought car home now it dies when you shift in to gear car will idle fine but as soon as it goes into reverse thats it

I just went thru something like this with my Buick Lesabre with 120,000 miles. It ended up bing the ignition control module. I was getting a code of P0300 - Random engine misfiring. There are other reasons like plugs, plug wires, coil, etc. I changed plugs, plug wires and checked the coils and ended up with it ICM. Costs abot $140. It was very easy to replace on my car. It is under the 3 coils on my 3.8 liter engine.

you need to find someone with an old type scan tool,or one that has an adapter for the older cars to read the codes. you can also do this by jumping 2 wires on tha obd connector and count the flashes. the first suggestion is the best. get the code and get back to me and we'll go from there. hope this helps Thanks Ray

Hi, I have a 2006 Altima with 31,500 miles. Recently, the engine start shaking when car is Idle but I still feel the shake when driving or at red lights. My second problem is a weird loud (humming) noise...

You don't need to change the spark plugs since it has only 31.5 K. The plugs should last 60K. There is a an adjustment at the gas cable end at engine to increase the idle a little bit. You can increase rpm at idle to 600 RPM. Since your RPM at idle is low that why it is shaking at idle, red lights. Let me know it it is shaking at high speed ( 2500 RPM)
