where is the oil pressure sender located on a 1998 - 54f4275.jpg

In a 4 cyl:
- next to power steering pump

In a 6 cyl:
- OHV engine rear of block, just ahead of transaxle.
- OHC engine-forward side of block, just above oil filter.

Review here Oil Pressure Sender and here the Oil Pressure Switch

Hope helped with this.

My oil pressure gage is in the red and doesnt move but i have lots of oil in it and i havent lost any it is a 96 explorer xl

Is the low oil pressure light on?
If the tappets are not noisey and the motor is not making any abnormal 'rattly' noises you may only have a faulty oil gauge pressure sender.
Replace the pressure sender, and if there is any remaining doubt get the oil pressure checked with an independant gauge before driving vehicle further.
