Rear clunk in Peugeot 206, 2002

Hi,
I have a 200 Peugeot 206. When setting off from stationary there is a strange clunking sound coming from the right rear side. It doesn't happen when the car goes over speed bumps, but does when it is setting off from standing. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Clunk under car on acceleration, but goes away after first initial clunk.

I would check the spark plugs and wires or coil packs. Sounds like the ignition system is arcing.

Struts noise?

I would tend to believe it's more likely a worn sway bar bushing or link if it's a rattle or a small clunk, if it's a loud clunk probably a strut, try bouncing he back of the car when parked, if you get the clunk probably a strut if only when driving, turning, braking probably just a bushing on the sway bar

Hi Ryan, If you were here in Africa I would say its probably shock absorbers. If your roads are anything like ours, check those and the exhaust system hangers for anything that may be broken. Regards John

Clunk under auto center front when turning left or right

have your CV joints checked. If the CV joint boots crack, the joint will lose all the grease and accumilate dirt. This will cause a metal grind/ping when making turns. If ignored, it may cause the joint to break causing the vehicle to be stationary and unable to move. Hopefully this help!!

Check your tranny mount sometimes the rubber part cracks and makes a clunking sound, also check your universal joints on the driveshaft if they are bad they will clunk, both are cheap fixes.
