My 2003 matrix engine hesitate when cold and the check engine lamp is on,the problem resolve itself when the engine get hotter thanks

Heaters slow at warming up


In normal circumstances the heater wouldn't begin blowing warm air until the vehicle has travelled 5 miles - call it 5 minutes. That's because the thermostat only begins to open at around that mileage/time and allows coolant to circulate around the engine. Before that - there just isn't any warm coolant in the heater matrix.

After 10 miles/10 minutes of normal driving the engine will be at its correct operating temperature and the coolant will be hotter - as will the circulating coolant in the heater matrix. That's when the heater blows the hottest air.

If you're sure that the heater has lost efficiency it may be due to air being trapped in the heater matrix/coolant system, or a blockage caused by limescale/engine corrosion within the heater matrix itself.

To remove any trapped air, set the heater to maximum, remove the radiator cap/coolant bottle cap and let the engine tick over for 10 minutes.

If the heater matrix is blocked/partially blocked, drain the coolant system, refill with plain water, set the heater control to open .. and let the engine tick over for 10 minutes. Drain it again.

Refill again with plain water and add a can of 'radiator flush'. Follow the instructions on the can of 'radiator flush'.

Drain again and refill with coolant/water.

If the heater is still inefficient then the only option is to replace it - and that's not an easy job.

Hi.my bmw e46 318i year 2003 lack of power.as if It hesitate. It gives late response.


hot engine, or cold, or both
does it reach full 180F coolant temp or more and HOLD?

id have to drive it, on here ,, im blind. and can't drive.
but here is a wild guess. based on almost no inputs.
bad TPS.
low fuel pressure

is the check engine light on, key, then goes out driving? does it?
CEL lamp. is first.
then 2nd is a FULL OBD2 scan of the PCM. look for problems.
i look at live data. and know what to expect, but most folks don't.
we watch all sensors, and look for factory only DTC errors.
the sensor are easy to monitor.
as is LTFT and 02 ops.

Heater not getting hot


You need to check the car t cold start up by checking both the lower and upper radiator hoses. After a few minutes one should be hotter than the other. If not the themostat may be stuck open. also chech to ee if there is heater contro valve from the engine to one of the hoses going to the heater core and see if it actuates by moving the temperature control from cold to warm.

My 2003 chevy malibu dont throw hot air


check whether the matrix do circulate the hot water. To confirm check the two hoses connected to matrix in engine compartment.Also check the heater valve which is before matrix in the engine compartment.

HI! I have a 1992 g101 1.3 Efi daihatsu Charade. My engine lamp is light. I can got the error code, and its a thermosensor. I think this is the green ended one...


Yes, the sensor on the left side of the engine with the green 2-pin connector is the coolant temperature sensor for the ECU. The single-pin sensor on the top center of the engine is the thermal switch for the radiator cooling fan.

The temperature sensor for the ECU can cause your fuel ratio to be LEAN or RICH and can cause hesitation, stalling, hard/no starting, or engine stumble. Also be sure to check the connector pins to make sure they are clean, dry and tight. Oil or water contamination in the connector can affect the resistance in the circuit and make the ECU "think" that the engine is colder or hotter than it really is.

My 2003 ford expedition hesitates to start ...if I drive it then turn it off and say go in the store when I come back out it doesnt hesitate


sounds like a cold start issue. could be a few things.could be something as simple as your spark plugs needing to be cleaned, or your air filter is dirty and clogging your air intake to your engine. could also be your battery and/or your starter is starting to go out. if cleaning the spark plugs and air filter doesn't resolve the issue, i'd ask your local auto parts store if they can test your battery and starter, then pull the battery and starter from the vehicle and get them tested cold. If they come back with any problem you you should either repair them or replace them at that point.

Under the hood on top of the firewall you will see two hoses,check both of these are hot(the cooler one is the matrix return pipe)if return pipe is cold then undo the clip and vent off any trapped air.this must be done when the engine is HOT,so take care.........

Fluctuating engine temp a/c sends out cold air intermittently


Here's the thing. The ECU will shut down AC if the engine temperature is too hot. If the coolant temperature sensor is malfunctioning (lying to the ECU) telling it that the temperature is hotter than it actually is, the computer will turn the AC OFF.
