If water is not circulating, more than likely its your water pump.

If you have no circulation and little or no heat from the heater, it's the water pump. If the heat is good and you have no circulation, it's the thermostat.

Overheating problem

Have you tried the thermostat. it might be stuck closed, causing the antifreeze not to circulate through the engine, in turn causing the engine to overheat. Go to and type in "How to change a thermostat on a Chevy Blazer. There you'll get a video on where to look and how to change the thermostat.

Replacing water pump on 1985 chevy k5 blazer

Hello, the water pump is the heart of Chevrolet cooling system, circulating the coolant. Follow this steps for changing your water pump:

1. Place a drain pan underneath the radiator. When the engine is cool, drain the cooling system from the radiator into the pan.

2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

3. Remove the accessory drive belt guide and the accessory drive belt.

4. Loosen the water pump pulley bolts and remove the water pump pulley along along with the water pump from the engine.

5. Install the new water pump along with the new gasket, tighten the bolt to 89inch.

6. Reinstall the water pump pulley, tighten the bolt to 18 foot ponds.

It is possible, but an air lock does not form by itself, generally only happens when the system is drained and re-filled. Your heater won't work if the system is filling with exhaust gas from a blown head gasket, or if the coolant level has dropped due to a leak somewhere.

My lumina is geting hot because the water dont circulate

ONe of two things, your thermostate has gone bad or the water pump is bad. Regardless if your are going to change your water pump, it's a goos thing to change your thermostate too. Good luck.  The water isn't that hard to change on the 3.4 but the thermostate can be a pain.

High temp

it sounds like an air pocket... try squeezing the rad hoses a few times and keeping an eye on the level in the rad... this is probably best done with the rad cap off... of course make sure it is cold before you remove the radiator cap.
