Question about 2002 Ford Explorer

3 Answers

My A/C went bad. We put a new compresor & oil seperator. We also flush the system with natrogen. We run the vaccum pump for least an hour.We filled system with 134a. Every thing seams to work. The a/c stops working after the vechicle is working for over an hour. Compresor shuts down. We check the high and low switch, plus relay box every reads normal. What do you suggest?

The accumulator changed out and the condensor was cleaned even in the outside. What do you suggest.

  • criollo2000_ Nov 17, 2009

It has enough Freon. What Fan Motor should I test? The indoor fan, We did test the indoor fan.

  • criollo2000_ Nov 17, 2009

The Fan Motor is reading 12 volts. Thank you for the generic image. The compresor cools very cold. We check all the connections and secured them. We also check swith and resistors.

Everthing starts to work after vechicle is cold, after it runs for over and hour it stops cooling.

You will need to hook the system up to a manifold gauge set to see what the pressures are when the issue happens, This will help to figure out what the issue is.

Hi,

Make sure you have enough Freon. Any loss of Freon would lead to all this. Other than this, you need to test the Fan Motor, Use a Test lamp to test the power supply to Fan Motor terminals with ignition switch turned ON.

Let me know, the update.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

    Thanks for your response!!

If the fan is running, this shows that the Motor is Fine. There would be a Fan Motor . it should read 12 volts.

    A generic image is :-

Make sure, that the new compressor is Fine. You never know, they might be at fault as well.

Make sure that all the connections are secured and there should not be any bad connection to resistor.kindly check Switch and Resistor as well.

    Let me know, once done.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

99 f 350 vacume pump has no power to it checked

The vaccum pump should only work when put in 4 wheel drive. If the truck is running rough the vaccum pump isnt it.Suspect fuel filter, water in fuel, bad injector harness under valve covers. That truck will run bad also if the oil hasnt been changed periodically because the ipr valve cannot work right due to dirty oil and gives icp sensor a bad signal. That truck has the 7.3L , very good engine.

How do you install orifice tube on a 1996 ford mustang

First thing is to use a recovery station to remove the Freon. Then you open the system connections at the receiver dryer and look into the outbound connection for the orifice tub. You might need to use a pick or needle nose pliers to remove it. When it is out, you need to remove the compressor from the circuit and flush the whole system with a recommended solvent. Drain the oil from the compressor by sitting it so that the connections allow it to drain. Catch the fluid from the flushing and the compressor to check for debris. If you see any you can re-flush the system again. If you see rust you have to replace everything. When you are done, put the orifice tube back, put in a NEW receiver dryer. Connect the compressor back to one side, put new oil back in the system according to the specs. connect the other side, pump the system down and wait for 4 hours with the vacuum pump running. Then charge the system. Now you know why it is so expensive.

Information on my nissan 2006 frontier 4wd The oil pressure guage at idling goes down to nothing and it started to knock, shut truck down changed the oil and filter put flush into gas tank per mechanic and...

Oh my! They are not a mechanic! You do not put flush in the gas tank, and you don't hollow out your your catalytic converter! Your oil pump is bad mate! you have to drop the oil pan, take off oil pump, inspect the oil pump drive shaft to make sure its not stripped (common problem) and prime the new pump, then install the new pump and pan. Add oil and you would have been good to go. Putting the flush in your gas caused your catalytic converter to go bad along with all your oxygen sensors, egr valve and everything that is a sensor for the exhause. Probably burned up your valves, which will require you to replace your heads, and probably left your cylinders in god awfull shape. WHOEVER TOLD YOU TO DO THIS HAS CAUSED YOU TO TOTALLY DESTROY YOUR ENGINE, AS WELL AS YOUR EMISSIONS CONTROL SYSTEM! I suggest you either install a new engine, along with all new emission control sensors and selinoids, or sell your car to a junkyard ($300 max is all they will usually pay) and buy another car. P.S. NEVER EVER TAKE THIS PERSONS ADVISE EVER AGAIN!

Should i flush my transmission or just change it? 54k miles.Help!?

Trans fluid is changed at mileage intervals, and near the end, it looks like you describe.
You want to do both: flush and filter. The filter and the pan hold the real contaminants, so those get changed and cleaned...but then you're left with a giant amount of fluids in the system. Torque converter, piping, cooler, piping...the amount is not insignificant.
So, you get a clean filter and pan cleaned and reinstalled, the next thing is the flush. The t-teck machine is my fav, what it does is has a ful reservoir of clean and new fluid, and an empty container.....They run the car, allow fluid to pump out, and new fluid to go in....This keeps up until the fluid coming out of the trans system is clean.
It really is the best way, I think. The lube shops are the place to get it done, as this job is leak prone, messy and generates lots of fluid to be disposed of.

Neither of these processes should be able to cause damage. Sometimes the trans pan leaks, so get it attended to...not a big deal.

I replaced my 97 s10's fuel pump checked the fuses &checked the relay & reset my computer changed my fuel filter disconected my security system & still can't get my fuel pump to co

The oil pressure sending unit could be bad. If your oil pressure gets below 7psi than it shuts off all power going to the fuel pump. It is screwed into the engine block just to the right of the distributor.

I have an 1995 VW Cabrio 2.0 ABA motor. It all started one night the water pump went out, I pulled over but dont know if I caught it in time or not. Got it home kept getting bubbels in the resivor after...

when you replaced head gasket did you check the head and block for cracks???
my best guess is you have a cracked head or block
is there oil in the coolant?
is there water in the oil?
is there white smoke coming out the tail pipe?
is it still boiling over?

double check to make sure all timing marks line up (although dont think this is your problem usually if timing car wont run at all or will run poorly)
do you have a check engine light on? if yes have your codes scanned
disconnect the catalytic converter and see if runs better yes car will be loud but if it runs better/longer you know converter bad
