Question about Peugeot 604

1 Answer

Engine problem with Peugeot 206 1.4 diesel at low mileage.

Took car for first MOT, is 3 years old and only 13000 miles. Dealer advised there is a problem with the engine that will soon start to knock and it will cost around £1000 to fix! Any idea what this may be or any history of such a problem?
Seems incredible to have a problem with a diesel at such low mileage.
Dealer seemed to be familiar with the ''problem''.

sounds like the immobiliser transponder is not being read, after five years you may have to get a dealer to reset it.

Peugeot 206

If the belt breaks it will do untold damage depending on where the engine is at the time.
Assuming it is not a HDi. The interval is 80,000miles or 10 years for normal conditions and 48,000miles and 5 years for adverse conditions.
You need to take into account the type of use, If you spend 3 hours a day cruising on the motorway the belt will suffer far less than if your around town in stop start traffic.

Volvo 850 tight engine - injectors + oil leak from top of cam cover

could be from
bad injectors
air in fuel
leakdown from problem pressure regulator valve
glo-plugs not operating
pump not producing the desired pressure
at this point I suspect that injectors/ pump need reconditioning as the unit is 21 years old probably never having either serviced
take it to an accredited diesel specialist shop for a proper diagnosis and quote

I have a 206 peugot 10 years old, i have been strongly adviced to change fan belt when mileage hits to 70 000, so i was just wandering how much and is it really worth it?

you mean the timing belt i presume ,ten years old low mileage but its the age ,the belt may be ok but take the top part of the cover off and look at the belt ,if you can the shape of the teeth showing on the back of the belt then change it as they only cost 16euros for the petrol engine and they are very easy to change done one yesterday andf it took me all of 20mins .

My citroen nemo multispace is one year old diesel version dealer informs me it has to be serviced now to keep three year warranty but service book states service interval of two years or 20 000 miles....

service scedule is 2 years or 20k BUT ALSO ANNUALLY.for low mileage users.if you did 20k in one year then the service schedule is right.dont argue with the dealer, hes the one doing all the warranty work and you will need it..........peugeot/citroen came near bottom for reliability.....

My peugeot 206 diesel keeps cutting out, now it

In my opinion cut off problem occurs if engine is not getting sufficient fuel and/or air. Clean the air filter, turbo filter and fuel filter. Check the continuity of diesel flow from filter to hdi pump. If you haven't found any problem there then the possibily the hdi pump and injectors section needs to be checked. If the car has done more than 100000 miles then clean inlet and outlet manifolds including check of turbo and EGR valve. Do everything whatever possible before you take your car to garage. If there is no luck then let your car diagnosed and check any error code recorded by ecu.

Car wont start on 206

you must fill the fuel filter housing with diesel to eliminate air pocket. if you don't have diesel, fill it with automatic transmission fluid. it will smoke for a few seconds, but it will run so fuel pump can catch up. don't touch throttle for a few seconds till you know that it is running on diesel and the tranny fluid is all used up.

"when do i change the cam belt on a peugeot 307 sw diesel"

usually you should do it for peugeot diesel at 122000 miles along with water pump and the tensioner roller that runs under the cambelt too. But to be on the safe side do it at 100000 and save the fortune.
It took me (DIY job) about 6-8 hours as i wanted to save 450 pounds.
