Question about 1993 Jaguar Xj Series
Hello, I just bought a 1993 XJ 2 door with the six cylinder engine. Someone has taped over the rear seat belt receivers where the male inserts. I dont know why and am afraid to do anything with them until i have an idea why someone would tape them so they cant be used? The dealer told me he didnt know, maybe the buzzer kepp going off and this fixed it? I would prefer to get it fixed. Any ideas would be greatly asppreciated. thanks.
First step is to remove the tape, no way to know the process of a mad man better then to dive into his world. Just make sure no one is sitting in them when you try to connect the male to the female end, perhaps they got stuck which could be a reason they were taped over. Start with that and report back.

1. Pull the plastic panels under the seat bottom straight forward to remove them.
2. Remove the six bolts (14mm) holding the seat and center seatbelt in place.
3. Pop the two small plastic covers at the top and behind the seat using a trim removal tool or screwdriver tip covered in masking tape.
4. Lift the seat straight upward.
The Service Manual states a 35 ft lb torque and must be re-installed in a certain sequence for the 6 seat anchor bolts (not the seat belt bolts). When putting the rear seat back in install the bolts in this order. (1) center left (2) center right (3) left lower (4) right lower (5) left upper (6) right upper.
