I had rear brakes replace. now the brake lites don't work. does that have anything to do with it.

hi, having the brakes changed have nothing to do with the brakes lites. check underneath of the dash by the upper side of the brake pedal arm .there its a switch with a pin which every time you step on the brakes that pin goes in and out when you release the brakes .that make the lites go off and on.it cost only couple of bucks get it changed.if till not working check the brake wiring. check for power source or loose ground.

try taking a look at the brake lite switch located down by the brake lite switch. Test it with a multimeter or test lite.

I have replaced several brake light switches in this particular car.The brake light switch is located under the dash on the brake peddle arm and is not expensive or hard to do .This seems to be the biggest problem with the brake lights:)

MY BRAKE LITES WERE OUT FROM THE PETAL BUT STILL WORKED FROM THE TRAILER CONTROLER SO I CHANGED 0UT THE BRAKE SWITCH. FOLLOWED THE INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE SWITCH PROVIDED INT THE BOX FROM NAPA PARTS. SAID...

The switch has a small plunger that has been pushed in too far. These are self adjusting units. You must pull out on the plunger with the brake pedal pressed, you will here it make noise as you pull out. This is normal then just release the brake and the pedal will set the length of the plunger for you. NOTE do not pull up on brake pedal, this will throw your adjustment off!

No brake lites, traction control and airbag lite on, changed brake switch

well i believe you got two different issues. you need to get your codes read in order to get more information on your warning lights. In regards your brake lights you should check fuses, relays, bulbs, and wiring.

Tail light out replaced both brake & tail lite bulbs nothing

It sounds like your brake light switch is out.  It's located on the brake pedal and is relatively easy and cheap to replace.  Let me know if you have any questions.  Thanks for rating my response and for using FixYa!

Abs & brake lites on at all times

Check the wiring to each ABS wheel sensor, more than likely the wiring is chaffed through on one of them causing the fault.
