A simple thing to check first is your fuel filter, if it is clogged or dirty, your vehicle will misbehave.

I have a 1984 GMC high sierra, I can start it and it will idle, but once I press the gas pedal to rev it, or pull it and gear and try to move it, it stalls out, any ideas what could be causing this...

Generally speaking I would guess lack of fuel. The carb has three circuits - - idle, cruse, and accelerate. It can be ok at idle but not getting enough fuel when you try to speed up.
Could also be a vac leak or other problem including the fuel filter.

Galant vrg-gdi-when i engage reverse the car stalls--but once you start moving --ok

You vehicle uses a Idle air control motor,(IAC) when you put a load on the vehicle (Drive or reverse) the ECM detects the load and idles up the IAC, even for the A/C (air conditioner) You can try a throttle body cleaning. or a new IAC

Truck starts, but then stalls, will not restart just keeps cranking, replaced fuel pump didn't fix . 1997 gmc sierra, 305 engine, 4 wheel.

have you tried to start it with your foot on the gas about 30 %. My question is are you sure its not just a issue with maintaining an idle. This would indicate a bad idle air control valve. Unless you have some readings to go on like fuel pressure and data for the maf and various sensors all we can do is guess also. It may be you have a failed computer but without any testing or data its anyones guess.

You should try looking at the transmission fluide, it must be short. If it is, you should go buy a transmission fluid. And make sure you car pipes has no leak.

98 gmc stalls

Check the Idle control valve. It is located at inside where the duct work from your aircleaner is connected. Take some brake cleaner or starter fluid and spary directly into the valve towards the fuel system. This valves get gunk on them and get dirty with oil and other stuff. If that does not work you can take off the valve with a little bit of work. And clean the holes with cleaner. While your at it, check your air filter. Make sure it is clean if not, replace it.
