Question about 1994 Honda Accord

1 Answer

Popping in the front when I turn the wheel left or right. Sometimes it is hard to turn back to strait. Way overdue for a rebuild. I need to know what parts to get

popping noise could be cv shaft(s). i've owned several honda's and had cv shafts replaced in nearly every one. the difficulty in turning back to straight: is the car moving? if a power steering pump fails, it fails. there's no intermittent period of operation.

My 2000 jetta pulls to the right under hard acceleration but drive strait at speed

If it is PULLING to the right, is it STEERING or TORQUE that is pulling it?

What I mean is this... If ONLY your Right Front Wheel is pulling with the Acceleration and the LEFT is not,m you will have a Torque Pull,

You may have a problem with your
a. Left CV Axle
b. Transaxle Internal Failure

The front left wheel makes a terrible grinding popping sound when I turn the wheel to the left. It also seems to be driving a little "weird", kind of "mushy" and loose. There is a boot...

That a CV joint you're describing. That boot protects bearing from dirt getting in and grease from getting out. You don't have to hit anything, they split with age, deteriorate and sometimes actually twist on shaft and gives the appearance like you smacked something. Replace or have someone replace CV joint and boot on that wheel and you should be good to go.

either get under there and grease every fitting you see or have the front axles replaced. it sounds like it just needs grease or it would do it all the time, in 4hi or not

Truck wont switch back to 2wd

Hi there,

Sometimes drive trains can be stubborn when it comes time to 'Let Go'. It's normally caused by stress remaining in the transfer case when the front and rear differentials have gone kept in sync. (Like on a hard turn. left wheels travel different distance than the right)

There are a couple tricks to try out. You'll need some space..

  • Get the vehicle moving, then shift to neutral. Turn the wheel to the left and right once or twice.
  • Do the same thing in reverse (but slower)
  • Jack up the front end so both wheels are off the ground. It should pop out as soon as they're up.
Try 'em out

I am not sure if the wheel bearing on the front end is broke. it makes a loud poping noise when turning and the wheel is towed in

Loud popping/grinding most noticeably heard when turning is normally a sign of a bad CV joint. Look under the van where the axle half-shafts come out of the transaxle and connect to the backside of the wheel assembly. Are the rubber boots on the axles torn or missing?
If you hear the popping only in left turns, your right CV joint is bad, If you hear the popping only in right turns, your left CV joint is bad.
