Reprogram new ignition key ford focus

Try the spare key. Those older Ford keys have a tendency to wear out.

Try wiggling the key and tapping near the ignition and see.If the Key starts turning in the ignition.Also spray wd-40 in the ignition switch hole and let the wd-40 spray liquid remain in there for 30 minutes then see if you can turn the key in ignition.Try this wd-40 spray couple of times,if still the same problem then,the ignition has to be replaced.Also the keys are to be reprogrammed by the dealer.Without getting your car key reprogrammed they will not work with new ignition lock cylinder. take the chip out of the old key and fit it into the new key if possible ,if not then tape old key behind the shroud next to transponder and it will work till you can get the new keys programmed in the dealer ,now on some of these older models but dont quote me ,if you put the new key in the ignition and open and close the doorlock with the original key it will programme the new key but this may only be on europeon models

Obtain all keys fitted with remote control. Fasten seat belts and close all doors. Turn ignition switch from position I to position II 4 times within 6 seconds. Switch ignition OFF. Programming mode activated for 10 seconds proceed as follows: Press and hold lock, unlock or boot release button Fig. 1 [1], [2] or [3]. Wait for acoustic signal (indicates correct programming). Repeat above procedure within 10 seconds to program remaining keys. To exit programming mode: Turn ignition switch to position III or wait 10 seconds. Keys can also be programmed using diagnostic equipment.
NOTE: A maximum of 4 keys can be programmed.

go on ebay to by the key and then get it cut at like target or walmart...

once you get the new key...

1-insert and remove key from ignition two times

2-close and open driver door two times

3-insert and remove key once from ign.

4-close and open drvr door twice

5-insert key into ign.,then close driver door

6-turn key to on (not start) then off, twice this is rewrite mode

7-remove key from ignition,the door locks should cycle twice.if not start over.it may take a few tries.

8-press lock/unlock together and hold for a second

9-release,and press lock on remote,the door locks will cycle confirming program.continue to do other remotes you have,steps 8 and 9.if only one in possession,you are done. To end mode open door or insert key into ignition.

You'll need to follow the steps with no more than a 1-2 second delay between each step.. hope it works

it can be done but you will have to have a dealer do it. and they will probably just get you a new controller and 2 new fobs.

u have to use the keys that came with the new ignition they arent interchangable like that

get in your car close door hit the unlock button then put key in the ignition cycle the key from off to on (STOP BEFORE START POSITION) cycle key off to on 7 times after the 7th trime the doors should lock the unlock automatically that means u are in trainning mode hit the unlock button on key fob. the key fob should now work if it doesn't then try changing batt

Hi, sounds like a lose rod inside the door,you need to remove the door panel to check it,....

is the key stuck ? will it turn but no cranking ??
what are the sympthoms
