My 2005 Chevy Silverado makes a noise sometimes when turning corners that sounds like a horn honking in the distance for a few seconds then stops. No noticeable problems but anoying. Any advise on what could solve this problem?

Check to see if the tires are rubbing inside the wheel well.. also you might roll down the window and hang your head out and listen at slow speeds while turning in a empty parking lot. if there is a faint grinding sound then a wheel bearing is bad. this is just a couple things to go on..good luck..

May possibly be a bad belt on your power steering pump.

hi alicia, the clicking noise after you push the horn is a solenoide engaging which means this part of the circuit is ok.... you say you tried 12v directly to the horn and sounded like it tried to work once but still didn't honk. that tells me the problem, is with the horn. some horns in older cars have an adjusting screw, some-where on the side . if yours doesn't have one then apart from pulling the horn apart (if its screwed together as a lot of older ones are) buy a second hand horn....(note i have had this problem in the past and adjusting the screw in or out has fixed it .... there was a lock nut on the screw as well) hope this helps.... pete...

Chevy malibu horn won't stop honking

Why not just unplug the horn rather than the battery? One wire plugs into it. The cause could be a number of things. (i.e. Horn button stuck in steering wheel, defective anti-theft system, etc....) This is a tough one to diagnosis.

This is a clockspring issue that you should repair. If the clockspring is honking the horn, it may next inflate the airbag. You don't want that to happen!

Is there a way to make the horn honk when you lock the car with the remote on a 2005 Mercedes SLK 350?

try holding the lock and unlock button down for a few seconds at the same time. That is how most work.

1992 Dodge Ram 50: Horn honks all by itself.

Check the horn actuating contact at the centre of the steering wheel. It may be damaged or mis-aligned.
Also check the carbon contact that runs on the slip ring under the steering wheel (associated with steering wheel horn actuate switch) It may be damaged or mis-aligned.

If none of the above are faulty, you should look for a possible intermittent short to ground on the horn actuation control wiring.

Have a friend, (or in-law) someone you're not too fond of, stand in front of the truck while you honk the horn and have them pinpoint it for you.
