Turn the ignition on without cranking and leave the ignition on for 10 minutes exactly, then try cranking it. If that doesn't work you might have to tow it to GM for reprogram.

I change the battery in my 2007 equinoxLT AWD and it will not start the shift selector light does not turn red when i shift to drive what is the problem?

You probably lost the programming for the anti-theft. Many cars require you to keep power through the system to keep this from happening when a person changes a battery. Try the following: I found this online, worth a shot. This is to reset the Passlock.
Important: Do not remove the key from the ignition during this procedure. If the key is removed, the procedure will have to be performed from the beginning.
  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Attempt to start the engine, then release the key to ON. The vehicle will not start.
  3. Observe the SECURITY telltale. After approximately 10 minutes, the telltale will turn OFF.
  4. Turn OFF the ignition, and wait 5 seconds.
  5. Repeat steps 1-4 two more times for a total of 3 cycles/30 minutes. The vehicle is now ready to relearn the Passlock Sensor Data Code and/or passwords on the next ignition switch transition from OFF to RUN. Important: The vehicle learns the Passlock Sensor Data Code and/or password, the next ignition switch transition from OFF to RUN. You must turn the ignition OFF before attempting to start the vehicle.
  6. Start the engine. The vehicle has now learned the Passlock Sensor Data Code and/or password.
  7. With a scan tool, clear any DTCs if needed. History DTCs will self clear after 100 ignition cycles.

My Chevrolet Tahoe 1999 start then stops ! 2 my

A common issue with the later 90's chevy was an ignition tumbler going bad. So, where you put your key in to start the vehicle--this part needs replaced. One I seen actually stuck in the starting position and burned up the starter before power could be shut off to the vehicle. Lock/Unlock buttons on the door? Try disassembly of switch and cleaning the contacts with electronic parts cleaner, dry and re-assemble. Be sure to use cleaner that is safe for plastics.

My chevy tahoe will not start and the security system light is on on the dashboard

If the light is flashing it may be an issue with the passlock sensor. Here is a process you can try to reset the passlock. If this process does not work you may need to replace the ignition tumbler and passlock.
PASSKEY LOCKOUT RESET ALL GM CARS 1999 AND UP
1) Put the key in the ignition and turn to the "ON" position. Leave it that way for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes turn the key and take it out. Repeat this process (2) more times (3 times, 30 minutes total) This should reset the PASSKEY system to recognize your key

Have 2003 chevy tahoe the security light flahs wont start

Your Passlock may need to relearn the ignition keys, if the ignition lock has gone bad like my in-laws Grand Am Gt, here is what i did so they will not get stranded any more. Buy a Passlock by pass module for around $70.00. You can orderone from GMPASSLOCK.COM in the mean time try resetting the Passlock. Good luck

Ignition keys relearn takes about 30 min to do. 30-Minute Learn Procedure 1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF. 2. Attempt to start the engine, then release the key to ON; the vehicle will not start. 3. Observe the SECURITY tell tale light. After approximately 10 minutes, the light will turn OFF. 4. Turn OFF the ignition switch, and wait 5 seconds. 5. Repeat steps 1 through 4 - two more times - for a total of 3 cycles of 10 minutes. 3x10 = 30 minutes. The vehicle is now ready to relearn the Passlock Sensor Data Code and/or passwords on the next ignition switch turn from OFF to CRANK Important: Turn the Ignition Switch OFF. The vehicle learns the Passlock Sensor Data Code and/or password on the next ignition switch transition from OFF to CRANK. Without a scan tool you may have momentary starter interruptions while history clears itself.

2003 dodge ram 1500, won't start, red security light flashes

The probably installed an overlay harness past the SKIM module it think the car it being hot wired it is a security feature. They need the install the interlock system prior to the SKIM module to keep it from locking up.

My 2007 tahoe security light came on and now my car wont start. Do you have any idea how to unlock the security? I have tried looking in my manual and no clue

It's the passlock system that is acting up.. I have the same problem at the moment but mines came from disconnecting my stereo system, the power wire sparked and toasted one of the computers. now the important thing is if the security light is flashing or is steady on.. if it is flashing you just have ti reset the security by turning the key to the on posistiona and wait about 10 - 15minutes and let the pass lock reset.. is it is steady on (no flashin):

a steady light means that you could have a Class 2 data circuit problem. It indicates that your "passward" from your key in the "passlock" is not getting sent to the (Vehicles Thieft Deterrent) thats inside your Vehicles Control Module. This shuts down your fuel log or injectors stopping the engine from starting. The vehicle might start, but then stalls after 4 sec or so.
It's like the vehicle thinks it's been stollen. That's too bad, if your light was flashing "and" your cycles were correct the car would have re-leaned the passward and started.
A problem could mean...but not limited to a open, shorted or grounded circuit....or a loose or open connector between these comunicating systems: SIP/PCM/VTD/VCM and perhaps the EBCM.
Security Insturment Panal
PCM - Passlock Control Module
VTD - Vehicle Theift Deterrent
VCM- Vehicle Control Module
EBCM - E Brake Control Module

you may have to have the dealer check and replace / but instead of passlock system you may have the Passkey 3+ system
