If you mean the fuel inertia switch, yes it will cut off the fuel and prevent the engine from running and or starting if you struck something like an earthen bank.

Where is the auto shut down relay on a 1999 dodge durango

The auto shut down relay is located in the fuse box that is located under the hood of the Durango. The auto shut down relay should be marked for location on the underside of the lid of the fuse box.

Auto shut down from hitting a bump- no fuel pump or ignition - voltage gauge not working

You have a ASD relay (Auto shut down relay) this is not a safety device you basically knock something loose.Turn the key on do you hear the fuel pump go on. If you dont check the fuses for a open condition and fusable link that are on the battery with key on wiggle battery negative terminal especially at the engine block and the frame ,same with the Positive part of the battery terminal .

Car stalls while driving.. starts right up but shuts off i start it hit the gas and engine tries to rev up but hesites alot then shuts off

Ford vehicles have an auto shut-down switch. The switch is in the trunk. If a Ford is hit with enough force or if the car rolls over in an accident, the switch is triggered and it shuts off the vehicle. This is to prevent fuel from continuing to flow to the engine, possibly causing a fire. If you were hit in the rear and the car will not start, look for the shut-down switch in the trunk. It is usually on the driver's side under the carpet.

I installed a new pump but it still wont prime when i turn the key. i checked the connector it good connection. i dont want to pay what they want for a master accessory relay. any ideas?

Well start by checking the fuses and if a ford check the auto shut down switch, this switch shuts off fuel pump if car is hit or tapped hard enough, if this is a ford and the switch is on and the fuses are good then i would stay its the relay box, maybe try a used one.

Starter relay location on a 1992 dodge caravan

Check along under hood on driverside fender area. Closest to windshield should be auto shut down, then next one toward front of van should be start relay. Probably a total or 4 or 5 there. Should be able to feel it click when starting, just to be sure no one mixed them up.

Anti theft system. You might have a door lock causing the anti theft system to kick in. (thinking its being stolen.)

1994 Chevy Astro Van- four wheel drive

Sounds like the auto shut down relay. Located somewhere in the front grille/bumper area. Relay triggers on impact to shut down all power in order to prevent fires etc. Great idea but can cause exactly the frustration you are having if you don't know it's there!!
