SOURCE: Check engine light

The trouble code P1128 is for a faulty mass air flow sensor or MAP. This is a common problem with 1999-2000 Accents. There is air leakage within the unit and/or the hot wire in the unit is badly contaminated. A bad MAP will cause the vehicle to bog and loose power.

SOURCE: 2001 Volkswagen Jetta Check Engine Code PO442

This is an Evaporative Emissions System code - indicates the computer has checked the system and concludes there is a leak in the system (small leak).. could simply be a loose fuel cap.

I have a 2014 Ford fusion and I was wondering how to reset the computer?

You may need to reset the computer (Engine Control Module or ECM) in the 2014 Ford Fusion if you are experiencing performance problems, have recently performed maintenance, or are trying to clear fault codes. Here's how you can do it: Note: Resetting the ECM will erase any stored fault codes and variable learning data, and may affect your vehicle's performance unless it relearns optimal settings. If you're not experiencing any problems, it's probably best to avoid resetting the ECM. How to Disconnect the Battery: Disconnect the negative terminal: Locate the negative (black) battery terminal. Use a wrench to loosen and disconnect the negative terminal from the battery. Make sure it is safely away from the battery. Wait: Leave the terminal open for about 15-30 minutes. This can remove any residual energy from the vehicle's electrical system, restoring the ECM to normal operation. Reconnect the terminals: Reconnect the negative battery terminal and tighten it. Reset: Start the vehicle and operate for a few minutes. Take a short test drive with different driving conditions to allow the ECM to relearn its settings. OBD-II Scanner Procedure: 1.1. Get an OBD-II scanner: Buy or borrow an OBD-II scanner. Make sure it matches your 2014 Ford Fusion. Look for an OBD-II port: The OBD-II port is usually located under the dashboard, near the driver's seat. Insert the OBD-II scanner into the port. Turn the ignition: Without starting the engine, set the ignition key to the "On" position. Accessing the ECM: Follow the scanner instructions to access the ECM reset function. This can be labeled "Clear Codes", "Reset ECM," or similar terms. Reset: Use the scanner to initiate the ECM reset. This will clear any stored error codes and reset the ECM

Upstream Heated O2 Sensors Swapped
P1128..means that you should check your O2 sensors...upstream...just before or after the catalyst....

Could be the air filter or prescreen, Mass Airflow Sensor needs cleaning, Fuel Pressure Regulator needs testing, Fuel Pump, IAC valve needs cleaning or either O2 sensor needs replacing...but most of the time it's O2 sensor problem....cheers

How can I reset check engine light?

You need an OBD scanner. The link below shows what one looks like:
obd Google Search

However, the check engine light is / was on for a reason. You should first use an OBD to identify what the error code - the fault - is and rectify it.

Once a fault is rectified the oBD scanner will be able to reset the check engine light.

It's probably easier and cheaper to get a mobile mechanic to do it for you.

The check engine light is on my 1995 Saab 900s. I can not find a techician with the correct scanner. How can I turn off the light?

There are three ways to reset a check engine light.

1. Disconnect the battery, wait approximately 30 minutes, reconnect the battery. This resets the cars computer which also reset the check engine light. On newer OBD (on-board diagnostic) compliant vehicles this usually does not work. See step 2.

2. Reset using an OBD II reader. When you hook an OBD II code reader up to your vehicle, you can reset the computer using the code reader.

3. Fixing the problem. Generally the check engine light comes on for a reason. Usually it is emission related (sensors, gas cap) or electrical (faulty wiring). In this case the way to reset the check engine light is to fix the problem

2000 beetle- while driving yellow emissions symbol came on. what does that mean?

This is OBD - On - Board -Diagnostic Display.
On Board Diagnostics, OBD-II, is required on all automobiles and light trucks from 1996 onward. OBD-II is a set of specifications for monitoring and reporting on engine performance in modern automobiles.
If the Service Engine light is on, then connecting a Code Scanner on OBD Connector, the Code is picked up and the code explanation can be found. If this is a False Code, this can be Cleared with the code scanner, after reading the code. The location of OBD-II connector in your car can be found here:
http://www.obdclearinghouse.com/index.php?body=oemdb
Remember the Check Engine light only comes on for emissions-related failure (which includes fuel and ignition, too). A separate warning light will illuminate if there are non-emission problems such as low oil pressure, charging system problems, etc.
If the light is on because of a misfire or fuel delivery problem, and if the problem does not occur after three drive cycles, the Check Engine light may go out. Whether the light goes out or remains on, a code will be snt and remain in the computer memory to help you diagnose the fault.
More information for the codes can be found here:
http://www.aa1car.com/library/ic10224.htm
After the code is picked up with a scanner, the code explanation is founded, and a decision has to be made to fix the problem or to clear the code. This can be done with the same scanner. If you do not have a scanner, any AutoZone, or Advance car parts store can do it for free.
