96 pontiac grand am se 3.1 is dumping oil over the starter.

If the oil is on the nose of the starter that is inside the bell housing, then it could be the rear main seal. You would have to have the engine or transmission removed to replace the seal.

(1999 pontiac grand prix 3100 v6) any tips or very important things that I need to know before changing my oil (mobil 1 full synthetic) and oil filter (ac delco professional)?

Make sure the engine is cool before you try, nothing worse then being under a car with hot oil running down your arm. Make sure you rub the o ring on the new filter with clean oil to make installation easier and provide a better seal. Helps to have the front end lifted, gives you more room and helps drain out more dirty oil. Its not too bad once you've done it once, you'll do fine. Oh one last thing, when you first pull the drain plug off the oil will shoot a good 4-6 inches out so have the pan set with plenty of room.

How do you change the starter in a 1999 dodge status 2.4l

My solution may not be exact so dont shoot the messenger. All starters have to engage the flywheel to kick the motor over. Find where the motor meets the transmission bell housing. Either on the front side of the transmission or the backside is where the starter will be.

After you find the starter location: Disconnect battery, find the easiest way to get to the starter (top or bottom of engine bay), remove anything that may make your job harder on you. Now that you have good access to the starter; remove the two or three wires that are attached to the backside of the starter. When all wires are free from the starter, you can now remove the bolts that hold it into the tranny bell housing. Be careful when you take these out cause the starter may fall to the ground or where ever.

Good luck, I hope this helps, happy wrenching

1999 pontiac grand am 4dr. se. change oil light problem

seems like your oil pressure switch gave up, its located on the side of the oil filter, you can take it out and test with a amp meter. it should cost you less than 20 bucks to buy something like that.
