Sounds like the blend door motor on the heater box is broken

  • jz auto Nov 17, 2009

you would more than likely have to remove the dash and the heater box. if you look under the right side of the dash where the heater box is and you can see you motors you could try to test those first by turning the knobs and watch to see if they move.

If your a/c is cooling at all...
you need to NOT check refrigerant
levels ANYMORE... Every-time you do that
you are venting it... out (creating other issues)... STOP.

YOUR description is indicating
blend-door actuator issues...

Parts are available... You will need to get
into your DASH to find which actuator is failing

Two different problems. First check that your engine coolant is at the proper level and if it is there is a problem with the heater core blend door.

Can not turn on my heat..ford explorer

you may have abad hot /cold blend door acuator.its bolted to air box. also make sure both heater hoses going to heater core are hot,if only one is hot and the other is luke warm or cold then you may have a clogged heater core, remove hoses (@ core) and flush with water hose go both ways a couple of times. good luck hope this helps.

NO HEAT AT ALL FROM THE VEHICLE ONLY COLD AIR

if the heater hoses going in and out of the heater core are hot, then your temp blend door is not moving to allow heat from the heater core into the car. either the temp knob or blend door motor is bad. some are vacuum, some are electric.

if the colng system has ever been opened;thermostat, water pump or any other cooling system repair, the bleeding process may not have been performed and you may have trapped air in the system causing your problem. This is a normal problem that can be easilly fixed by a qualified tech.
