You may need to replace the belt tensioner,if the belt is not worn out.Do not ever spray belt dressing on the belt to quiet it,that stuff will cause you more grief than it's worth and it should not be on the market .

Serpentine pulley I have a whine from one of the pulleys any suggestions on how or where to buy new ones?

Have you tried tightening the belt adjustment on that belt system. Usually there is a belt tensioner inline with the belt and a little more tension could stop the squeak or whine.

What causes a loud whining sound with a car that is in park or being driven with a serpentine belt that is not moving?

Remove the serpentine belt and check the pulley from water pump alternator air condition

My 52 mini suddenly started making a whining noise, its an automatic, i didnt get any any warning it ciasts fine and reverses but once you put your foot on the accelorater the whining noise slows the car...

Check your transmission fluid level, as recommended in the Owner's Manual. Also, if your car is equipped with power steering, check the fluid level in the power steering reserve.

If all fluids are at recommended levels, see if you can locate the noise. If it is in the engine compartment, try to determine if the noise is coming from any of the serpentine belt pulleys.

Sometimes the bearings on air injector pumps fail in higher-mileage vehicles, first causing a "whining" noise, and ultimately resulting in the serpentine belt "chirping" or squealing on acceleration. Best you can do is make sure all fluids are at recommended levels, then try to pinpoint the source of the whining noise for further diagnosis.

Hope that's helpful!.

I have a 2001 Jeep TJ.4.0L I6 5Speed 176,000Km When the engine is cold, at 1800RPM it makes a whining sound. It goes away when driven a couple miles.

It sounds like you need to replace the serpentine belt when they get old they will whine and when they warm up alot of times it will quit and sometimes not but it sounds like you just need a new serpentine belt which runs your water pump, alternator, powersteering.

Whining when not accelerating

Loosen and remove the Alternator belt which may be a serpentine belt and see if the whining goes away.
It could be the alternator or the water pump if it's driven by the same belt. It will go away while moving because the engine noise is usually negated by road noise etc but it's probably still there.

Whininhg from power steering pump

That is the power steering belt routed around pump pulley that is slipping . The power steering is located behind the steering column, replacing and re-routing the belt is not an easy repair.

If instead the whining noise comes from under the hood , that is the serpentine belt, that is easier to repair.

Whining sound from under van only when i push the gas.

The serpentine belt is the most common cause for whining sound when accelerating, try to understand if noise is coming from serpentine belt.

Also check power steering belt under steering column, and also the rotor and chain, thei do not make whining noise , but can make noise when accelerating.

The belt is first suspect.
