Question about 2003 Ford Expedition

1 Answer

Why when you take your 2003 expedition to dealership they only change the bad coil i purchased my 2003 expedition at omeara ford center in colorado and replaced three coils already wouldnt it be wise that they replace all the coils to ensure that this wouldnt happen again or are they jus soaking your wallet to pay them, very dissapointed that when 1 coil goes bad they wont hook you up with all new coils especially when you have a warranty

Warrenty will only pay for defective parts,so if they put all new parts in then when they are reviewed the company would only get paid for the parts that failed. If the part was defective when you brought it in then warrenty covers it,if not then you cover it unless it becomes defective while you still have warrenty.

I have a 2003 Ford Expedition. It is a 2 WD & has a 4.6 automatic. My check engine light came on & the car shakes when it idles. Do you know what could be the problem? We already changed the DPFE...

Take it to a parts store and have them read the code on their OBDII (usually a free service). That will point you in the right direction. Some common solutions are:
- IAC (Idle Air Control Valve) around $45
- Spark Plugs
- Bad Coil Pack ( a mechanic can read each one to find the "bad" one
- Vacuum Leak - pop the hood and listen for a hissing noise )have someone rev it up and down while you listen. A common leak is near the firewall, center of vehicle )a 90 degree rubber hose.

I have a 03 Lincoln Navigator with 80K on it. I just purchased it used (not through a dealership-used car dealership) and have certain warrenties on it. It drives like a dream around town but when you are...

This vehicle and the Ford Expedition are known for this issue. It is very possible that your Ignition coils are going bad. Typical issues will start intermittently>> random Jerks on take off, shutter 45-65mph when the gas pedal is pressed, stalls, random misfire (engine light may or may not appear. This problem will get worst over time leading to stalls and misfires or the vehicle will simply ditch you!! I recommend replacing ALL 8 coils and performing a tune-up simultaneously (spark plug replacement). The coils on these vehicles tend to fail between 70k-110k miles, if all aren't replaced you may experience the same issue in the near future.

I need to disarm the passenger airbag on my 04 expedition so my ten year old can sit on that side to get out at school

I am pretty sure your Expedition has a switch on the center of the dash, that you can turn on and off with your ignition key. If you don't have this, I would first check your owners manual, then the dealership, as this is a safety concern.

2003 ford expedition has service engine light on

It does not take 3 hours to change spark plugs..I will suggest you get the right equipment to do this job.Get the right tool that can sit on the spark plug and unscrew....You will need to disconnect the coil pack that sits on top and disconnect the wires if needed. From there it is self explanatory.

Missfire 2000 expidition

there isn't a trouble code that indicates a bad coil... there are misfire codes that can possibly lead to a plug, coil, fuel injector, low compression, or a number of other things. it is possible to have 2 more bad coils-if youve had the engine compartment detailed and they got them wet, that'll do it. other than that it is hard to see 2 coils going at 1 time. spark plugs themselves are more likely.
