Question about 2006 Hyundai Sonata

1 Answer

Electrical issues My door locks and trip memory work so long as the car is on but the door locks do not work when the car is shut off and the memory zero's out. My interior and flood lights do not work whether the car is on or off. The clock does not work. I have checked all of the fuses that I can see the bridge on and they are all fine. I have a 2006 sonata 4 cylinder.

what is the setting I should use on the volt meter to test it...you are talking about the large black fuses in the fuse box near the battery right? What reading am I looking for? I had to do this in the Marine Corps but its been a while.

First you need to check your fuses with a test light, they may look good yet be bad. Next check (with the test light) the fuse links out near the battery. It sounds like a fuse or fuse link problem but a test light is the only way to find the problem. Or use a voltage meter.

Yes that is the fuses. Set your meter to 12 volts or a setting on your meter which includes 12 volts. You should find a bad fuse or link there someplace due to losing so many things at once. Just be patient and you'll find it, electrical problems can be a pain but take your time and you'll be ok. Seems like you know what to do just needed a little help to point you in the right direction. Good Luck.

My 1987 Dodge Ramcharger, 318 Auto, 2wd has a rear door issue. It won't shut and latch properly the owner before me installed additional locks on either side to secure the door but they are ugly. Any way...

take a look at the latches, make sure they are grease good and all working, sometimes one of the latches freezes up, so the door is not completely latched, also you can adjust the striker to lock tighter, this is located on the body, at the top and bottom of the left side door, take a look and see if all latches are latching, use a screw driver to push them locked and see if latec will stay latched in the lock postion. good luck.

Door switch may be sticky/ broken

Open the drivers door. With a screwdriver or equivalent trip the latch on the door 2 clicks so it is in the locked position, Just under that finger get a can of Brakecleen and hose the snot out of it. I mean really firehose it. As fast as it evaporates I still had it running out of the door drains. Be careful not to get cleaner on the plastic door panel, trust me take extra care. Open the outside door handle to release the latch, then open and shut the door for a while, like a few dozen times, to work the latch. Repeat as necessary. Follow up by shooting some PB Blaster, WD-40 or whatever light lube is handy. If this doesn’t work, give it might take a day or so to work free. If still nothing then the microswitch might actually be broken, but this usually does the trick

2005 Dodge Grand Caravan power door locks will not lock or unlock with remote

Here's how our problems played out: First we had a remote that wouldn't lock doors, then doors that wouldn't slide shut and finally locks that wouldn't lock at all. The problem is with the computers BCM. It took two failed trips to the dealer where they tried to replace fuses and misdiagnosed the problem. We found a shop that specializes in electrical systems and for $300, we've got it fixed. Here is their web site - you may be able to contact them and find out what worked. Sounds like one of the door switches is broken. On your model, it could be a small plunger by the front of each door jamb, or the latch itself. Check them all for visible damage first, then test each on for function.

Drivers door won't shut or lock suddenly and light in the door does not come on. Is this a fuse and how can i mend it.

not likely a fuse if other door lock works. the little red blinking light comes on when factory alarm sets and alarm isn't setting because the drivers side door latch is not working properly and alarm thinks the door is still open because of micro switch in latch not tripping.
