Pass key 2005 tahoe won't start

My son's 2005 Tahoe won't start. We assumed it was a pass key problem. If left set for an hour or half hour or sometimes 10 minutes. It will start. The dealer confirmed it was a Security System problem and charges around $100 for the diagnosis. Now they want another nearly $400 to fix it. Are there any other alternatives?

He has 2 keys and neither work. The way I understand it, there is not a programmable chip in the key, it's supposedly only a resistor. I don't know if it's a break in the wiring (doesn't explain why letting it set would allow it to start)or if the "detection" electronics is at fault.

You could try calling a reputable locksmith. some have the tools to program an ignition key. they should be a lot cheaper than your dealing

well there is a wire ring around where the key gets inserted and depending on the severity of the break in the wires and the temperature this will give you that condition. i would get a transponder ring or whatever they may call it on a chevy

One of two things is possibly wrong, the starter solenoid is bad or the starter has failed. Sounds like you battery is fine.

99 tahoe back fires only when starting it does not pass mog

I STARTED EXPLAINING THE WHOLE THING TO YOU AND THIS APP KICKED ME OUT. ILL TRY IT AGAIN. THE SPIDER (INJECTOR ASSEMBLY) HAD LOTS OF ISSUES. IM ASSUMING THIS TRUCK HAS 4.3 OR A 5.7 IN IT. THE FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR IS PART OF THE ASSEMBLY. IT LEAKS FUEL INTO THE LOWER INTAKE. THERES LOTS OF SENSORS BUT KNOWING THE INSPECTION STUFF THEY MAKE YOU PASS IM ASSUMING O2 PROBS. THE REGULATOR WILL LEAK RUNNING OR NOT. THIS WILL CAUSE YOUR STARTING ISSUE AND A O2 PROBLEM. REPLACE THE INJECTOR ASSEMBLY REGULATOR AND ALL. HOPE THIS HELPS

I replaced the blend door actuator on my 2005 Tahoe on the rear A/C unit and it moves the actuator to its full range and then won't move?

In most cases once you replace the actuator, you have to calibrate it with a scan tool thru the computer.

If your radiator is full of water, then its probably the thermostat sticking. The thermostat is located on top of the engine, under the housing that the radiator hose goes to

My 2003 tahoe spins over but won't start ?

When you turn the ignition key to the on position can you hear the fuel pump running?
The fuel pumps are notorious for failing. The fuel pump is located in the gas tank and you'll have to drop the tank to replace it.

Have a '94 S-10 Blazer Tahoe 4X4 and it starts

My suspicion is a starter going bad. Sometimes when starters get old and worn they will start good when the engine is cold but not when the engine is warmed up. Did you perhaps notice that lately is seemed to drag when you tried starting, especially warm or it seemed to crank a little slower? I'd replace the starter. Hope this helps.
