Question about 2005 Subaru Outback

1 Answer

I need to change the crank position sensor on 2005 Subaru Outback. Is this a do it yourself job? The local Subaru dealer wants $260 for the part and 1 hour labour. Where is it located and where can I find a how to? Any advise appreciated. Jason

The sensor is located by the crankshaft pully and should have a 2 wire plug on it. as far 260 for the part, thats insane considering it's a 25 dollar part. you should be able to do it yourself

Code p0340, p0462 on subaru outback 2001

Po340 is a cam shaft sensor and po462 is low voltage on your fuel guage. So i assume you are haveing fuel level issues. If you can turn wrenches you can do these repairs yourself. Just do a google search and you can get some youtube videos of sensor replacement and location. Have fun.

1998 subaru outback started sputtering and now wont start. it will start if you put gas down throttle body and die immed. after

It could mean a number of different things... faulty maf or map sensor, throttle position sensor, fuel injector leak, etc.
Is there a check engine light on? I would be happy to further assist you if you were interested in diagnosing it yourself.

How can you tell if subaru has california emmissions. I need to change the O2 sensor to stop the MIL from going off. The dealership said the sensor was 460 I think that's a bit steep. Any answers are...

Thats not even close!
under the hood look for white emission sticker on hood or radiator frame,it will state if calif or not.
Check with a NAPA parts store instead of that dealer.

1997 subaru outback "check engine light" on for 6 months

try disconnecting the + positive terminal for a few minutes and see if it goes out most likely the 02 sensor needs replacing ...however low fluid levels may also contribute to this oil, brake fluid etc.

What does error code 55 mean for Subaru leagcy 2005

This is a communication error with the BIU (body integrated unit). Need to take to the dealer, possible that the ECU needs to be replaced to fix this issue. It should be covered under the federal emmission wrty.
