I understand what you are saying, but the battery light in the dash comes on. The other day, coming home the battery light came on and I barely made it home (lights were dim.) I've put a new battery in and now i've put in "three" different autozone alternators in. not sure where to go from here. last night I was reading 14-16 volts at the alternator and was reading 12 at the battery. Then I heard the car idle down and read 14.6 volts at the battery. I shut the car off and started it back up and it was back to 12 volt at the battery.

    And thanks for your reply.

The battery is new....the alternator is new.

The good news that a new cable going from the alternator to the battery solved the problem. Been driving the past few day....200 plus miles and its fine.

you're definately going to see a difference in voltage right after you start the car. remove the chargine wire from the alternator to the battery and use the ohm setting on your voltmeter and report back the resistance of the wire.

are you checking the voltage with any loads on such as headlights, rear defroster ect. are you having any issues or is the battery fine?

Ford focus 2005 battery light stays on new alternator , battery only 6 months old

First, a bad battery doesn't turn the light on. Just A bad alternator or ECM. Start the car. put a volt meter on the + and - sides of the battery. If it reads 12 to 15 volts (closer to 15 for a new alternator). The alternator is good. And is charging. The problem is the wiring or the ECM. It can be bypassed to turn the light off. I just did it a week ago. Problem is , I don't have the wiring diagram for your car. Don't get a book from the parts store, it won't tell you. Go to alldata or Mitchell and purchase a manual. It's online and lasts a year. But they give you good electrical schematics...

Blower motor slows down when i accelerate

I have a thought you may try testing your battery voltage with the car turned off .It should read 12 volts or higher if not charge battery than check again if battery is lower than 12 volts after charging replace battery. If 12 volts or higher start engine check voltage on battery again it should be 13 volts to 14.5 volts not higher if voltage readings are lower than 13 volts or higher than 14.5 volts replace alternator.

2004 ford focus se replaced alternator couple of mnths ago went to start this morn battery dead charged battery still no start. jumped of another battery started but when removed jumper cables car died

Sounds to me that your battery has shorted out and will not take a charge.Disconnect the battery and try to charge it, then check to see if it has taken power with a volt meter. A shorted battery will take all the power from the alternator and run it to ground leaving no power to run the car. Also check the alternator output with a volt meter after you have checked the battery as a shorted battery can burn out the alternator.

I am having the same problem with my 2004 Elantra. I have had the alternator tested twice and did replace the battery. This morning I had it running ad put a volt meter on it ( red to the battery pos black to the engine block) I did get a reading of 14 volts for about 30 seconds then the idle lowered and the voltage dropped to 12 volts. I tried this again later but could not get a voltage reading above 12 volts with the motor running. Any suggestions?

HOW DO I FIND THE VOLTAGE REGULATOR ON MY 2004 FORD F350 SUPER DUTY VAN?

ck your alternator if you have one large white wire and two smaller dark wires you've got an internal regulator the entire alternator needs to be replaced if bad

a simple voltmeter you can still buy at radio shack will tell you in about 30 seconds

set meter for dc volts 25 volt scale place red probe on battery positive and black probe on battery negative note reading on voltmeter (11 to 12 volts) start truck/car at idle reprobe battery same as before volts should come to about 12/13 have someone give a slight throttle to engine volts should come to 13.8 volts and stay there never going over this if any volt reading was not as described Yep your voltage regulator/alternator is bad
