10 year-old car? If replacing transmission fluid doesn't fix it, then take it to a mechanic.

It will go into drive but not reverse

Check the transmission for fluid level. If good, might need to take it to a mechanic to have it checked for a transmission problem.

My tahoe started making a loud noise while driving abs and traction light turn on and reverse dont want to work?

I thank you have a failed transmission. Take it to a ****** repair shop and have them do a look at it, it will be free at most shops. You must get the problem diagnosed before any repairs are done.

Kicks really hard when shifting from park to drive... but not from park to reverse, neut., 1st, 2nd, or 3rd. speedometer won't work. won't shift outta low gear, just revs up like it's in neutral.

sounds to me like the vss (vehicle speed sensor) isnt working...its on the passanger side of the car on the top of the transmission..(just above where the right side axle is installed) youll see a 2 wire connector...sometimes they come unlpugged and when that happens no speedometer=no shifting because it doesnt know that its in motion, therefore doesnt know when or too shift..,

1999 Tahoe suddenly wont go in reverse. Experts say $2500 to fix. Is there another way?

sound like the transmission is out of the reverse gear. 2500 is a little high, brand new transmission cost around 1500. try to check at your local salvage yard some time you can find a low milages transmission with good warranty, then have a reputable shop to put it in for you. you can save a lot that way.

No reverse when engaged., slow to change gears when driving in drive,, i can here it takes longer to shift.

Most likely the "reaction shell" teeth are stripped. This is a common failure in the 4L60E. The transmission will need to be removed, and the reaction shell replaced. Any reputable transmission shop should be able to replace the reaction shell. They may advise you that your transmission needs to be rebuilt. Either way, it is somewhat of a costly repair.
