Car has a slight delay in drive and reverse

No. Traction control measures the wheel spin which happens after the car is underway.

What you describe is thick fluid, low pressure in the Torque converter, delayed engagement in the Torque converter, or sticking valve body in the trans.

If you have a trans Warranty, this is something you would take in to correct.

When temps are below freezing and the car is cold, there is a delayed engagement when shifting between neutral and reverse and drive. This happened after I had the transmission flushed.

Make sure the fluid level is right. You need to check the trans fluid level in park with the vehicle running and at operating tempature. Is there any warranty implied from the place that did the trans flush? If the fluid level is correct and it continues to delay (slip) you can try using mercon 5 transmission fluid in the trans it is a thicker transmission fluid with a higher tempature range and will tend to smooth out the slipping issues in the colder weather.

2003 Ford Expedition Will not engage in drive right away. You put the truck in drive and give it gas it just revs up the engine then after a few seconds will **** into drive. Also is doing this at stop...

It sounds like you need transmission fluid and filter change. This is one of the most overlooked maintenance items. It should be changed every 50k (30k if you tow a trailer) The delay in engaging gear is sign that trans fluid is tired or REALLY cold. In cold weather this is a normal symptom on cold morning starts but goes away when warm. I'd get it changed and soon, before it turns into a $$$ repair.

Transmission delayed engagement at cold start

Depending on how Cold it is where you are, The cold will effect the Operation of the Tranny. I am pretty sure that your Tranny is Fine, Just Really Cold. Depending also on where you live, I use Valvoline Quick Change to service my Vehicles when I am on the Road. Have never had a Problem with them. On the Fluid, They make so many Different Kinds now adays that it is hard to Choose. Look in the Back of your Owners Manual and Use what is Suggested in there.

Delay engagement of transmission

I would get the auto transmission "power flushed"; that will remove all of the dirty oil and any contaminents. That is the first thing to do, and usually works pretty good. Let us know how it turns out., Thanks.
