If you are gapping your plugs at the specified( by the book) .60- DONT. The truck will run smoother if you gap them at either .32 or .35. I dont know what ******** at GM decided to run these 2.5's at .60, but mine wont even turn over at that gap. Once I dropped the gap to .35 it started right up and ran real smooth.

My 1988 Ford F150 4X4 5.8L with duel tanks runs for about 10 mins then acts like it runs out of fuel and wont start back up. Ive replaced the fuel filters and the in-line fuel pump, pressure release valve...

With 2 tanks have you a balance pipe between tanks or a 2 way tap. IT sponds as if there is a low pressure problem ( vacuum) occuring as the pump draws out fuel and as atmospheric pressure is needed to push fuel to the pump the pump will not be able to keep up pressure . Check for correct fuel cap on both tanks and a balance tube between tanks to allow air to keep the pressure equal in the tanks

Cant accelarate down the road acts like its running out of gas

check for a clogged fuel filter, low fuel pump pressure, or a fuel pressure regulator that is stuck in idle flow setting--which is not enough pressure for cruise performance.

Drive 1988 ford f150 on the highway it dies and won,t start back. It acts like it is out of gas. Let it set 30 mins. and it starts right up

Fuel Pump-a possible. The time frame of 30 minutes will vary.
The armature on the pump motor is worn, as well as the tiny bearing,so it seizes or just stops conducting current.
Drop fuel tank and replace. May be able to remove all bed bolts but rear ones, and tip bed up.

1988 cutlass ciera boggs down when i accelerate

Hello! You have symptoms that point to incorrect fuel pressure.
First have the fuel pressure tested as follows; #1...engine running at idle: 13- 20 psi. #2...key on engine off: 23-30 psi. If pressure is incorrect change the fuel pump.

Does the engine "surge" at idle? If so, check the "fuel injection pressure regulator idle air control valve". Apply a vacuum to it; If fuel flows it is not the problem.

1988 chev celebrity stalls when comming to a stop sign.

no timing belt on the particular vehicle. but yes probably something minor, check fuel pressure, fuel pressure regulator, MAF sensor and IAC motor. all these can cause intermitent stalls. The MAF is located somewhere between the air filter and the throttle body. it is a sensor that sometimes gets dirty with air particles and will affect fuel managment. the IAC motor is on the throttle body and if gets stuck with carbon will not be able to control idle. the fuel pressure regulator is on the fuel rail and if the vacuum line is filled with gas then the diaphram is bad. and the fuel pressure should be 35 to 50 PSI running.

1988 Chevrolet 1500 V-8 It idles high and won't start the first

could be the fuel pressure regulator. if too much fuel pressure it would act like the choke is on. as with all fuel injection, the pressure to the injectors vary according to the demand from the engine. It can run anywhere from 12psi to 15psi at idle to 30 psi plus when in demand for power. unplug the vacuum line from the pressure regulator while idling and see if the engine acts different. if not the regulator could be at fault. it will be a round barrel about 1.5" in diameter mounted in the return line with a small vacuum line running to it. while you have it off check the line with your finger for vacuum. mike
