    thanks, where is that located? up under the dash behind the gauge or should I be looking outside/under the van?

If the cable is dry this can cuse the bounce your getting,,,try taking the inner drive cable out and oiling it

Speedometer bounces from current speed down to zero (where it sometimes sticks)


It won't be a cable, as it's impossible for a cable driven speedo to perform this way.
It's an electronic speedo.

Check and/or replace the speedo sensor in the gearbox housing.

Speedometer bounces while driving


your spedo cable is probably just loose which can be fixed by tightening or replaceing. Might as well go ahead and replace it since its a 14 year old truck and its the more sure fire way to fix the bounce.

I have the same problem with my car..It is the speedo in the car that is bad...check into getting that replaced it should work fine after that.
