Question about 1986 Pontiac Firebird
On a 86 2.8 L Pontiac Firebird which timing mark on the balancer? Which way is the rotor button to point? Does the mark stamped on the distributor mean anything?
Refer to this diagram for instructions, ok the distributor rotor should be pointed to the bottom just right of center when the line on the crankshaft harmonic balancer is at "0" mark on the indicator tab on the compression stroke, number 1 cylinder is the 1st one on te left as you face the engine from up front, pull that spark plug out, rotate the engine until u feel pressure with your finger in the #1 spark plug hole, stop at that point and locate the line on the crankshaft harmonic balancer, slowly rotate the engine around until the mark on the balancer lines up with the idicator "0" mark is lined up, you know should have the distributor rotor pointed at the # 1 cap terminal which as i said is the bottom left of distributor cap, bottom being the engine side of the cap. If you still don't get it call me at 925-459-0571
