MAP Sensor

Measures intake manifold vacuum pressure to help control the air and fuel mixture and timing. Contains a pressure-sensitive element that connects to an electronic circuit, generating a signal that changes with pressure changes in the manifold.

Under hood, passenger side, front side of strut tower, mounted on upper fenderwell

Let me know, if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

    Thanks for your response!!

The reason that i never commented earlier, as it never make any sense to keep guessing and checking components. There might be million of reasons for the the problem you are facing right now. The right procedure is to tow the car to Auto Zone and get it scanned for Codes. Once you have the codes, then you could narrow the problem whether it is MAP sensor or some other issue.

I would really advise you to get the car scanned and tell me the codes, so that i could tell you the right procedure how to fix this rather than telling you 10 different things to check and replace.

Let me know, if needed further assistance.

    Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Need to know how many sensor. is on my transmission.. 2003 Pontiac Montana v 6 .. can you show me picture where transmission control solenoid goes?

There are 12 common sensors and 10 internal sensors. The most common that often fail (MAP), (TPS), (CAM), (IGN), (CRANK) MAP is your mass air flow which is located at the beginning of your air intake, TPS is the throttle body position sensor, the CAM is the cam shaft position sensor (transmission), IGN ignition position sensor and the CRANK sensor is located near the bottom driver side front

Where is the map sensor located on a 2001 hyundai accent gs?

Your engine has likely worn out. You are describing the situation when the piston rings are so heavily worn that gas pressure forces itself into the engine sump, pressurizing the lower oil case, and forcing itself into the evaporation system, which then makes its way to the air filter housing.

I advise doing a compression check on the engine at your local garage and repairing or replacing the engine if necessary.

I have a Pontiac Grand Prix GT, 3.8 Liter Motor. Two codes PO108 Map/Baro CKT High Input, and PO121 Throttle/Pedal Position sens A ckt Rng/Perform, according to the scanner. Did I need a Map Sensor and...

Change the throttle sensor first, and see if the map sensor is a victum. throttle sensor is similar to an old volume reostat, on some cars and everything else tries to do react, and everything errors out.... My bet is throttle position sensor... But you never know, it CAN be both, just usually not both.

The car runs till you press down on the gas

Before you start replacing parts, I would disconnect battery, clean all connections such as at main computer, map sensor, throttle position sensor, egr valve, and anything else in the vacinity. Clean & inspect them good, using electrical cleaner & add di-electric grease to all connection before putting them back together. When done, re-connect battery, which should have erased codes, and now start fresh. If still running same, check codes again & get back to us.

98 jeep grand cherokee limited 4.0 litre. starts up, during warm up process engine will idle irradically and stall out. starts back up and does the same thing. no check engine light on. cleanrd throttle...

Does this thing have a throttle body that looks like a computer-controlled carburetor?

If so, start motor and verify that it behaves irratically and then stalls.

then, spray WD-40 liberally around base of throttle body where tb meets intake manifold.

Start motor...

Does the problem go away, at least whilst for a little while?

You gotta vacuum leak. Replace gasket under TB and tighten bolts to factory spec.
