The battery posts are loos or it may have bad wireing to it or that post has broken off on the inside of the battery,,,this means a new battery,, it could explode if you pull it about as a spark inside the battery could ignite the hydrogen that will be in it from the charging proses
this is what blow up the air ship "the hindenberg"

Anyone have battery and inside electrical issues? the dome light comes on when you open the pass. side door but not the driver side. I am also having issues with the battery going dead constantly.

First find out why battery is going dead. With hot battery, disconnect negative to battery and see if it sparks when you touch the neg back to the neg post on battery when everything is turned off and doors are closed. If yes, remove fuses one at a time and retest until you find one that makes the spark go away. See what that fuse controls and fix short (can also be a stuck relay). To find bad relay connect battery and let sit for a few minutes, then feel the top of each relay to see if one is hot.

Where is the battery located

Underneath the air cleaner housing. To remove and replace if you can start the car turn steering wheel fully to the right or remove tire. Open hood, disconnect remote battery terminals, remove air intake filter box, remove vented panel inside front of right wheel well. On these cars you will have to disconnect exposed positive cable battery terminal first. BE CAREFUL YOUR WRENCH DOES NOT TOUCH ANY METAL WHILE REMOVING TERMINAL FROM BATTERY POST. Loosen and remove the two bolts on the tie down that secures battery in place. Slide battery until the negative terminal is exposed, disconnect and slide battery out into wheel well. Reverse order to install new battery.

2001 sunfire put new starter in car would not start so put in new battery car finally started after holding key to start then would not turn off unless u disconect battery posts, now when u put posts...

Hi, it sounds like the starter solenoid was not wired properly. You have 2 wires at the starter, right? The bigger wire goes to the big top post on the solenoid, right? The smaller wire is called the start wire and it goes to the smaller terminal labeled "S." Is that how you wired it? You also have to be careful when tightening the nuts on the terminals that the start wire terminal does not touch the other terminals and vice versa. Do you have the starter in the car now? Can you take a picture to send me?

With battery ground disconnected and positive connected if i take a voltage tester and touch from battery ground to chassis ground i get 12.52 volts, just what the battery tests,+ to -.

Are you sure you were touching the negative post and not the positive post. If you checked the positive post and the other wire to body chassis then you should get the reading you say here. Negative to negative is negative and you should have had no reading at all. Please do this test again being absolutly posative your touching the negative post. There will be a - sign on the battery under that post. Get back to me after the double check, Raz

I have a 2005 town and country and code# P2097 just came out what this code mean

your post cat O2 sensor is reading too rich... try this, completely disconnect the battery, touch the wires together with a wrench for one minute, (THE BATTERY CABLES, NOT THE BATTERY!!!)

leave the battery disconnected for 30 minutes to one hour, hook the battery back up, start the vehicle, don't touch the throttle, brake or anything else for 5 minutes (if you have a garage don't forget to open the door)

turn off the vehicle and restart it, if the code doesn't clear itself then take it to an auto parts store, tell them you think you fixed the issue and need the code reset so you can be sure.

if the above steps don't work then you will need to take it to a dealer as there is some other reprogramming that they are able to do.

here are the steps they should follow, notice none of them include replacing an O2 sensor

they should check/clear the code.
reset the adaptation values.
do a "quick delete" before disconnecting communication between diagnostic equipment and car.
disconnect the battery from the car.
do a battery reset- touch both connectors that go to the battery posts with with a wrench for a minute.
let battery sit disconnected for 1/2 hour.
reconnect battery.
check to see if code is gone.

good luck

What is the best way to locate an electical short

I guess if you can't locate a light that is staying on, in the trunk, or a tail light or something, you could pull fuses. For example: take your negative battery cable off the battery post, and then touch it lightly back to the post. It will spark if there is something still on. Now, pull the fuse for the heater, for example, and then touch the battery cable to the post again. If the spark is reduced, you have found the culpret. If not, pull another fuse, and repeat.
You will most likely have a small spark when you touch the post back on, even when everything is normal. but it should be very small.
If you don't find anything this way, the problem is likely the starter solenoid.

The Check engine light came on, after changing spark plugs, oil change etc., the car is running like a top, but the light is still on. What is the reset proceedure?

You can reset it by either an OBD II scanner (auto zone, car quest, pep boys, etc) or simply by disconnecting the battery cables from the battery posts and touching the cables together for 30 seconds... then reconnect them to the battery posts.

"Greasing" battery posts and clamps

Yes you are correct. I have never heard that term before. There is a battery protector spray you can buy and apply on top of a good clean pattery post.

You know If I lived in the back woods I guess greasing the post would be another option.

Got to give credit for ingenuity

Battery light came on, and then turned off car and didn't come back on. Any ideas? Battery replaced 1 year ago.

Alternator. Check your belt, make sure its tight and still there. Make sure its grounded right and the plug didnt vibrate loose. make sure there is no metal, besides the post clamps, touching your battery also. If this doesnt fix it, take it to auto zone and have them check the alternator.

My starter

the wires might be fried also, check them with a meter to see if the smaller wire has voltage without key in. if so, the wire might be shorting out to 12 volt wire or the ignition switch is bad.
