I have a 2005 vw beetle. There is a clicking sound behind the steering wheel. There also is a mechanical sound like something is opening and closing.

There is a bearing behind the steering wheel that the steering shaft goes through. With this limited info there's where I would start.

Replace rack pinion

He is probably telling you the truth as most cars have around 4 turns lock to lock. The clicking sound you are hearing is the turn indicator switch under the wheel clicking as you go past the fingers that activate the lever to off position. The only thing I would check first is that the steering shaft coupling onto the pinion shaft is tight and the clamp bolt is still there. Otherwise it will be a new/reconditioned rack and pinion box

Everytime I turn slowly I hear this creaking sound. The ride is smooth my steering wheel is great. My power steering is capped off. I dont know what the problem could be. I don't hear it right off when I...

I had a similar problem on my 2002 Escape, but it was also creaked when cold. It turned out to be an outer tie rod joint. It may also be a lower ball joint. My creaking would happen when turning the steering wheel even a quarter turn. I reached behind the tire and put my hand on the tie rod while my wife slowly turn the steering wheel back and forth. I could feel the very obvious vibration. Try the other side to see if you can feel the difference. Can you hear it when standing outside the car, and tell which side?

How to fix horn

First go to horn, its in the right side (passenger side) very front behind bumper. Turn wheel to the right, remove inner fender well, locate horn. Check to see if you have 12V there when the horn is activated to ensure its not just a horn. If there is 12V and ground and horn doesn't sound, you'll need a new horn. If voltage is good then back track to the horn relay, it should be under the hood electrical center (some earlier models were under the dash below steering wheel. If you press on the horn in the steering wheel, you should hear it click to locate. If not check the black wire going up the steering column, when jumpered to ground and horn sounds then the problem is inside the steering wheel, horn ring or contacts on the pad are faulty.

I am pretty sure that the solenoid for my shifter is dying because I have alot of difficulty getting it out of park and when I press the button on the shifter to release it from park I am hearing a click...

I think that is normal for all cars or some of it, because if your steering wheel is lock, you can not release your shifter to D to R or to N because your car is design with the safety lock for anti-theif. Before you start and drive your car, you need to turn your key to the switch position and unlock the steering wheel by turning or wiggling left and right the steering wheel until you will hear the click then its also automatically unlock your shifter. The click sound is lock or unlock. Maybe you don't know also that every time you get out from you car and toke off your key and accidentally turn a little bit your steering wheel, and also you don't hear or feel the click specially if you are in a hurry, your car is in a safety lock. I hope you get what I mean, OK, Thnx

Steering wheel clicks on 1998 Subaru Legacy Outback wagon

steering column bearing sounds like a worn out steering column... jack the front wheels off the ground both sides relieve load on steering wheel to see if it lessens the amount of feel and noise, if it does it shoud be the column bearing, replace bearings or complete column,,, also try with the wheels off the ground and safely supported to manualy steer the wheels by hand and see if you feel in roughness or hear any noises, should some minor resistance but be smooth in it movement if everything suspension and steering component wise is in good working condition... please rate my help.. thanks...
