Question about 1999 Pontiac Bonneville
For about 2 months now the remote door locks have been not working as well as the interior lights.I would have to manualy unlock any and all doors neither the key thing or nterior lock switch would work. Occasionally if you run over a rr crossing or bump they will work for a short while then stop again. 2 days ago both low beam headlights stopped working. stopped at autozone they replaced them and they still dont work. It has a sensor but i have tried to turn on at the switch still wont work. I looked at fuses and relays and ground block under driverside carpet near door. The sensor seems to be working because the park lights continue to come on and then go out after a few minutes of leaving the car off. Is there other fuses or grounds I should be checking. Also the dimmer /cruise control/ wipers switch on the steering column broke like 2 months ago. Everything works except the dimmer you have to pull it towards you and hold to keep bright lights on. But I had no problems with the low beams until now. If it is that switch how would you remove it.The locks are bothersome but I am concerned about the headlights.
It could very well be the dimmer switch. There is a plastic cover around the steering wheel held by a few screws. Remove the cover & replace the switch. First check headlight grounds for good connection. A common problem with well used cars is that after opening & closing the drivers door 2 million times the electical wires at the flex point where the door harness flexs tend to break. Open outer cover & pry back to expose the wires inside. The ones that are broken are the culprits. Hope this helps you & please recommend advice.
