This is an indication that there is some type of mechanical, or electrical fault in the transmission, you will need to take the truck to a local repair shop, or the dealer, and have the computer scanned for trouble codes.

Just put a transmission in my 2002 Ford Escape now the overdrive off light is flashing. Also my gear shifter won't move without something pushing the lever in the steering wheel. Can someone help us

I think you need to adjust the shifter cable but you really have to explain this a little bit better so I or someone else here can help you I think your pushing the shift interlock switch if that's the case you need to adjust the cable so the shifter tube ( I think they have one ) can align with the interlock switch then the car should start and when you put your foot on the brake it should come out of park and be able to go to any gear the over drive light flashing could just be a bad connector or it set a code because it was stuck in gear after you get the gear shift to work properly try disconnecting the battery to clear the code if it comes back go to auto zone and ask them for a free code scan they do it all the time and you will find out what's causing the code it's probably the interlock or the over drive switch itself

Is there a light on the shifter console for nighttime driving?

Yep! it's a common problem with most of the cars, there is usually a tiny 12 Volt bulb that is supposed to light the shifter dials. Some are easy to replace some are tricky, depending no how complicated it is to remove the cover on around the shifter.

Over drive light on shifter blinks and check engine light is lit.

You need to have it scanned for codes. The flashing overdrive light means it has trouble codes that pertain to the transmission.

Transfer case

you will have to take the shifter out of the transfer case, remove the shifter bushing, then look down into the transfer case.you will need a flash light, you will see the ends of two rods that have slots in them.take a long screwdriver and move the rods so the notches in them are even with oneanother.the rods will slide back and forth.once the notches are lined up you can shift your tranny.the bushing needs replacing in the shifter on the transfer case.look on EBAY and you will find them.
