Yeah the light is always on, lol. this happend over a course of time at first it didn't want to go over 50 on the highway. The rpms are really high like at 4000 when we were going 50. Then today it just wouldn't go over 20. Everything points to the conveter but there is still exhuast coming out, so could that still be the problem? The car isn't overheating. He's already replaced spark plugs and wires too

is your check engine light on? how does the vehicle run? could be a clogged catyletic converter if there are no transmission or engine problems

Have the timing belt checked to make sure it has not jummed a notch, but I warn you,if it has, further starting, and runnig the engine can make it jump more,or break, and will cause engine valve damage. If it needs the belt ,have it done before starting the vehicle any more.

I would realy have the timing belt checked before I ran the engine anymore.

99 kia sportage will not start and wipers, power windows, and heater fan don't work either

In the engine compartment fuse/relay box, check the 40A IGN fuse. If it is blown, the items you mentioned will not work. Replacing the fuse should clear up the trouble and you'll be able to start

Hi Missippirebe, I think you should replace the fuel filter and if the problem persists check fuel pump pressure. It should be at around 3.7 bar. Regards John

I have a 99 Kia Sportage that now loses all acceleration and hits 4000 RPMs whenever I drive up even small inclines or reach about 60 MPH. What would be causing this to happen?

The most common problem that causes what you are experiencing is a plugged exhaust system.Usually the catalytic converter. The check engine light light should be on and the codes will lead to an oxygen sensor out of range, causing the fuel to lean out.If this is the case then i would look at getting the converter replaced. You could also have a vacuum leak which may or may not put the check engine light on.Let me know how you make out.

HOLD keeps coming on in my 99 kia sportage what does that mean

Look on the shifter lever, just bellow the push button. There is another push button there. That's the one you press or depress to keep the transmission on 3rd. gear. Just press it again and the hold light should come off.
