They security light is on in our 95 Pontiac Bonneville it will start up an run for a few seconds then shuts down but it does it every time you start the car what could be the problem

Well, the anti-theft system should prevent the engine from cranking and starting. So if it will crank and start then die, it could be a long list of things. You would need to figure out if it is fuel or ignition related to proceed.
The security light usually means the computer is not accepting the chip in the key. Either the chip is bad or the sensor in the lock cylinder.

Why is the security light on my car coming on?

Your key has a transponder hidden in the head. This sends a signal that is recieved and passed thru several parts of the antitheft system. When any of these parts fail to send or recieve that signal, the security light comes on as a preventative action to prevent what it thinks is an attempted theft of the vehicle. Eventually the car will stall while driving or just fail to start. Here is a link that will help you with this problem.

I replaced the starter that was the problem. when i go to start the car and turn the key over my lights and stuff come on but i dont get a click or anything car wont start. is there another solenoid or a...

Most likely the starter wasnt the problem but rather the anti theft security that comes standard on these cars. It all stems from that chip in your key. When not funtioning properly, the SECURITY light comes on and the starter turns off to prevent theft due to not getting the correct signals to the computer. Look for the security light, if its there, then this is your problem. This site will help with info and DO IT YOURSELF solutions.

Security light goes on and off when sentra is not running

The blinking light doesnt mean that u have a security system it means that Nissan immobilization system (not an security alarm system) is working, which i believes comes standard on all new nissan cars now. but this feature prevents someone starting the car without a nissan key, because our keys have a microchip in it which the car can read. and if a key that doesn't have the right chip in it is used it wont turn on.

Check in your owners manual the right disarm procedure.

Security light comes on

The security system (VATS/PassKey) is having problems, it's typical on those cars and it will gradually prevent the car to start anymore. You can find a great write-up here: , this has been the only thing that saved my Park Avenue.

Security light stays on, and car won't start.

leave key in "ON" position (not start) for EXACTLY 10 MINUTES! As SOON as the light shuts off, turn key and start key.

Every time you put key in, turn and start right away, DO NOT HESITATE.

There is a problem with the car's computer causing this problem IN ALL GM VEHICLES.
