Question about 2002 Pontiac Grand Am

1 Answer

I have a 2002 pontiac grand am and it recently started stalling when driving or at stop sign. It will immediately start back up and go. The car is not giving any codes. Any suggestions on what this could be?

My 2003 Pontiac Grand Am recently kept stalling but would start back up again. I had the fuel pump system replaced. It ran fine for one week but it is now dying again but starts immediately back up. The...

Hi, Classic ckp(crankshaft position sensor problem), check ckp harness wiring from ignition module to ckp sensor(tends to short out or burn on hot engine parts). You can repair wiring usually if its not too bad. What usually happens is it drops ckp signal and car shuts down but signal is immediately restored when cranking back up. Very hard to catch this problem in the act even with a scanner while driving usually does not set a code either. I usually inspect wiring to sensor back up to module for burn or melted spots. If all looks good even with a extensive wiggle test when engine is warm, I would replace ckp sensor. P.S. This will sometime result in bogging and misfires too when its getting ready to stall.
