I would say professionally that youre due for service. replace all filters and spark plugs(replace with ac delco spark plugs only or you WILL trigger a check engine light for random misfire and it will still be running good).

Its DUE. Replace the spark plugs, wires, fuel filter, check the air filter, clean the throttle body, check the belt/ tensioner.

I have a 2004 Grand Prix GTP, it has around 97000 miles on it. When should I do a tune up? Also, it keeps saying "system charge failure" when I try to start it up.

I have a 2004 grand prix GT2, it has 197586 miles on it, RUNS LIKE A CHAMP. I change my oil with valvoline max life semi synthetic about every 5-8k miles. at 10k miles it says i have 53%oil life remaing so i just change it anyways. I have done the plugs about every 35k miles but i would recommend doing a FULL tune up about every 30k miles or so depending on your driving habbits, I drive about 2500 miles every 2 weeks and my car running in tip top shape. Personally i do all my own work on all my cars just because i know that i am not going to rip myself off. I have had the System Charge Failure come one a few time i just let it do its thing and it went off. Take your battery and Alternator up to autozone and have them test it. your serpt. belt could be slipping a little bit and not grabbing the pullys. I have had the problem where i blew a water line and coolent was all over the place, with the DexCool that GM requires it is a sylicone base and makes a mess everywhere. I am still finding it on my connectors, and around my electrical doohickies. Hope this helps

I've been told by a certified mechanic that my 03 buick rendevous needs a tune-up. Why is the cost so much? 93,000 miles

Vehicles are Electronically Controlled,no tuning is done by a mechanic.
You may be referring to replacing spark plugs and filters.
They should have been done a long time ago. Around 60,000 mile for plugs.

04 Grand Prix oil leak

if it is not leaking then it is being burned by the engine, how many miles go by before you need to add oil?, if u are adding more than one quart every 1000 miles u have piston reing problems and or valve guide seal leaks. U won't see any smoke in most cases unless you are really going through the oil, like 1 quart every 300 miles.

While driving my 2004 pontiac grand prix, my service brake indicator came on. I recently had my brakes checked and was told that pads and rotors were fine, but that within the next few month I would need...

At 80000 miles there is a very good chance that you are ready for new front pads. That is precisely what I tell my customers when I exchange brake pads. "Come and see me in about 80000 miles" The sensors will pick up on a fimly depressed brake pedal and then store it in the computer. This indicator is fed by two sources brake wear and milage. It's best to get them now before you end up needing rotors too! Thanks, Dana

Check engine light came on along with check gas cap

Did u have engine codes scanned? If not, have it done, as it may indicate the problem. Let me know. (most parts stores will scan for codes free) .
