Cam sensor is located on the back of the cam just infront of the firewall on the passenger side of the car. if there is a code present for this i would also check the wiring to it as they have been problematic and replace the ignition module that is located on the end of the intake manifold it has a plug on either side. you also didnt mention if you have a problem with your car starting or stalling

The sensor is down between the heads at the bottom of the intake manifold. IF it had a distributor, thats where it would be. Its real particular and you need a special tool and it needs to be put in correctly or it will turn on the CK ENG light. It will cost a lot more if you dont put it in right and a repair shop has to redo the job.

Replaced cam shaft sensor on 2005 ford taurus and still get code p0340. Possible fix distributor? According to AutoZone computer suggested parts.

This means the sensor isn't working. That can be caused by a bad connector or broken wire.
Check the connections to the camshaft sensor. don-ohio (:^)

Camshaft position sensor on a 2003 ford taurus, how to replace

Need a repair shop to test the sensor

A sensor code doesn't mean the sensor is bad
could be the cam sprockets stick

Your best off with the use of professional test

Look at some you tube video on the subject

1997 Ford Taurus 3.0 2v. Check engine light came on (did not change in the way the car drove) and Autozone diagnostic pointed to cam sensor, but the tech there was thinking crank sensor when he showed me...

try getting a crank sensor from ford also use sandpaper and clean the mounting area of the crank sensor screws, and check all your fuses it is possible that one might have popped while you were prying off sensor none are marked that is why you have to check them all. if you end up changing you cam sensor it is recommended you change the synchronizer gear under the sensor you can purchase both as a kit for about 5o dollars.because if you don't you will soon hear a loud squeal from the gear causing you to go back to that area again.

I put in a new cam shaft sensor and the engine lite now blinks which says that its mis firing do i set the the timing like the old distributers ( on a 2000 ford taurus ohv )

yes...replacing the cam sensor is just like a distributor

however, additionally, you need to reset the timing via a scan tool
