When a timing belt goes in a 96' LHS what are the chances that more damage has been done to the motor??????? is there a good chance the cylinder is damaged?

Not so much the cylinder itself but the valve can get bent from the pistons hitting them, it all depends on the speed at the time it broke, ive done a few that the customer got lucky and they were go slow or at a light, the best way to know would be to install a belt and run engine before its put all back together thats what i do, its a 50/50 chance but i think its worth a try. hope this helps.

If the timing belt goes out in this vehicle what are the chances that it will run again without having to replace the entire motor????

Sometimes you will get lucky and the valves and pistons didn't collide if you shut the engine as soon as the belt broke.

I have 97 chrysler lhs 3.5l that just died on me and wont start its getting fuel ive replaced the ignition coil and the cam and crank sensors but still wont start and am getting an cam sensor not giving...

I would check the timing belt probably broke. Best way pull the cam sensor out take a flashlight shine it down in the hole and have someone turn it over. u should see it turning if you don't the timing belt is broke. good luck

CAR WONT START

sounds like your timing belt let go..ther is a rubber plug in top of timing belt cover..remove it and see if camshaft sprocket is turning..if not, belt broke..more than likely valve or piston damage

1996 Chrysler LHS not firing

First, check the ECM fuse in the power control module (it will be a yellow 20 amp fuse). Second, check the timing belt. You can pull out the cam sensor and look in the hole while someone cranks the motor. If the cam gear is not turning, the timing belt is broken. VERY IMPORTANT - when replacing the cam sensor, get a special adhesive pad from a Chrysler dealer that attaches to the bottom of the sensor to set the proper gap (cost about $2). Install the cam sensor until the pad touches the gear and tighten down the locking bolt. The pad will wear off in normal running. If the gap is not set correctly using this gapping pad, you won't start.

Motor turns over but wont start

Does the distributor turn? Some of the old serpentine belt might have got into the timing belt and broke it.

Car wont star

Timing belt broke. Open the oil fill cap and crank, if you don't see the valve lifters moving, then the timing belt has definately broken.
