THE ALTERNATOR HARNESS ON MY 98 INFINITI I30 HAS 2 GROUND WIRES BUT THE USED 99 MAXIMA ALTERNATOR I BOUGHT ONLY HAS ONE GROUND POST WILL THAT WORK AND CAN I HOOK BOTH GROUND WIRE UP TO THE 1 POST

The alternator connections for the alternator are: A BLK wire from the E terminal to ground; A BLK/RED wire from the fuse and fusible link box to the B terminal; a YEL/BLK wire from the fuse and fusible link box to the S terminal, and a WHT/RED wire from the instrument cluster to the L terminal.
The '99 Maxima alternator has the same connections.

Disconnected wireing

You need to keep the wires apart or they will arc, so be careful. They will hook into the back of the alternator, but you need to know which post they go to. An auto parts store with a replacement alternator that fits that car will be able to tell you which post will take the red wire and which one takes the black one.

2000 Cavalier 2.2: Put in new starter. 2 days & it

The battery and alternator may have been ok.
You have a fuse or fuseable link between the alternator and battery to protect it. If you have battery voltage at the battery post and not at the alternator post, there is a break in that circuit.
If the battery cable goes to the starter, the alternator wire may go from there and that could be where the fuseable link is.
Fuseable links are special thin wires that act like fuses.

Wiring alternator to battery via starter motor

Wiring the alternator to the battery by way of the starter should be no problem. Just connect a wire (10 ga) to the battery post on the alternator and the post on the starter or solenoid where the battery cable is connected and you should be good to go.

Need a picture or schematic of battery to alternator wiring on a 1982 southwind motorhome with a 454 chevrolet engine

I can't give you a schematic but i can tell you where the wires should go;Battery post of the alternator should go to the center post of the battery splitter box that splits between the engine and the house. In the alternator plug the wire closest to the battery post of the alternator needs to go to the charge light or an ignition source. The other pin in the plug can just be looped the the battery post of the alternator. If you have no power to the alternator but do have power to the box that splits the power from vehicle to house the you need to put all the wires on the post marked batt until you can get a new one, this should get you up and running. If you are planing to remain camping with the temporary repairs made then separate the wires until you are ready to start the camper to prevent a dead battery condition if the house battery gets run down.Hope this helps.

Wiring the engine compartment on my 1973 firebird with built in regulator on my alternator witch wires go to alternator then to starter to keep the battery system charching ? the system is not charching...

the wire will go from the post on the alternator the one with the nut to the hot post on the starter then another cable will go from the starter on the same post to the positive on the battery. however if the car died tells me something else is not right because the vehicle doesnt run off of the battery it is merely to start it then the alternator feeds the power while running. you should be able to remove the battery while running and should still keep running

Replaced alternator on 1985 Ford Bonco 4X4 302 engine, made sure the new one was tested at the store before bringing it home. Will not produce charge to battery. There are 5 posts on the back of the...

turn your vehicle on, disconnect the battery, both terminals(while truck is still on) if it dies on you, then either the alternator is bad or wiring is wrong. if it stays on, then you may have a bad battery or voltage regulator. Check the voltage on the battery before you turn it on(should be from 11.5v-12v), when you turn it on if the alternator if working properly you should have around 13v-14v.

88 s10 wiring problem

if you have a 4.3 liter the wire from the positive post on the battery should go to starter and to the post with 10mm nut on the back of the alternator with a 2nd wire that goes to your ignition coil. ignition coil wire should have a fusible link in the line.
