Question about 1997 Jeep Wrangler

Don't have 12v(only one wire has 5v) at fuel pump w/ignition in the on position. All four wires in harness have continuity.

If your checking fuel pump voltage, check other wires while cranking that will be fuel pump voltage and will only have voltage while cranking, or 3 to 5 secon after stop cranking. the one 5 volts will be gas gauge.

Help... I have a 92 350 chevy truck that will not start. I have replace the ECM, coil, ignition mod., the fuel pump relay and the fuel pump. When i turn th Ignition switch on th fuel pump doesnt come on....


you said you tried applying direct voltage to the pump? proceed to remove the fuel tank and check the harness inside for continuity, both wires going to the pump itself. If wires prove to be ok , then proceed to replace pump .

what do you mean by "dash lights"? how do you KNOW the pump isnt working? how do you KNOW its good? at the ignition switch the ORANGE and PINK should have power in the RUN position the BROWN and TAN/WHITE should also be HOT in the run position. There should be a red wire near the fuel pump relay, make sure its HOT when cranking. IF its HOT and the fuel pump doenst run, the pump is bad. You can also put 12V on that red wire and power the pump.

I need to disable my alarm on a 1997 bmw 528i.


Now im not sure since the manual says your model has the same alarm system as the 328i and on the 328i you can remove the module to disable by doing the following. you can unplug the control module. It is located under the glove box. Climb under the dash on the passenger side and remove a few screws on the trim panel under the glove box. Theres a black control module with a green connector. There should be a lock tab on the connector. press the lock tab and pull out the connector. The alarm should now be disabled. But if it has the special transponder key this may not work.
But if the only reason you want to disable it is because of the motion sensor setting of the alarm for no reason there is a solution for this. To disable the motion sensor, hit the lock button to arm, then hit lock button again within four seconds to disable motion sensor. Red light on rearview mirror should flash four times, then pause, then start flashing on regular intervals. this is most likely the reason if your having the issue where the alarm goes off every 20 minutes.
If you want to completely remove it below is a wiring diagram taken from the manual for you alarm system.

You need to cuss a whole lot more than twice. A voltage meter would be more useful in determining the actual voltage making it to the fuel pump. Something around 12v DC would be appropriate. If you are not getting at least 12v, you need to check the battery, the starter relay, and the fuses to the fuel pump for any corrosion, and make sure you are getting at or near 12v DC.

Low voltage to fuel pump


there is a factory bulletin on this problem, it is the connector to the pump module, they get overheated, the pins loose good contact and u get low voltage, there is a repair connector availiable from GM and from a Company called Airtex

No Power to Fuel pump


I would check the ground for the fuel pump relay that operates the switch side of the relay.
You should have 2 12v inputs to the relay. When the relay gets 12v input, it closes the relay switch on the heavy current side that sends 12v to the fuel pump.

A relay is needed because you don't want heavy current going through the switch.

Also, most cars only run the fuel pump for 2 seconds when the key is turned on because you don't want the fuel pump running without the car running. If you listen closely at the fuel tank, you should hear the pump run for 2 seconds when you turn the key to "ON"
When the key is turned to "START", the fuel pump should run continuously.
The engine computer tells the fuel pump to shut off if the engine rpms are zero.
So, I would check the switch side of the relay. Power amd ground.

Are you getting fire but still no start? Check for fuel delvery. If no fuel delivery at the shrader valve. then check the fuel pump. If you don't hear the hum of the fuel pump when in the "on"position, replace it.Also make sure you have power at the constant 12v at the coil and distributor. If no power is present you may have a faulty ign. switch.
