Question about 1995 Chevrolet Lumina

Lumina 200k+ miles, is stalling after rain

1995 Chevy Lumina 200k+ miles, is stalling after rain. Once dry the car's front end shakes while accelerating.

One person turned on the car took off two plug wires, the cars performance made a difference. The 3rd wire shocked him, and when he took it off the plug the car made no difference.

Does it make sense that the wires could be bad? Or is there something else that could cause this problem. I don't wanna spend too much money, but a set of wires are cheap... Thanks

Is it possible that's the only problem? I am worried I'll buy the wires, then need a new something else expensive! lol

Now I've changed the wires, plugs, air and fuel filter. The car runs a LOT better. However. Between 50-60 MPH the car rumbles (seemingly when it falls into gear) If i accelerate the car rumbles harder till I get a couple more miles faster. OR if I take my foot off the pedal, and then accelerate. The engine doesn't rumble. Also over the past couple weeks, it seems to be shifting a little late, and the car seems to have less power than usual.

Could be you are having transmission problems now.....with that many miles on the car it is very likely.

34 51 I have a 1995 Chevy Lumina and about a month

51 IIRC, is EGR fail, fix that first.
if the EGR fails the car will in fact stall at every stop sign.
yes, the motor runs at 300 RPM and illegal RPM 800 is correct.
this is the EGR stuck open
all cars with EGR have a 50k mile service, my bet is you dont follow the service charts.?

we clean the valve.
in a shop they wont the replace it for like $200 part and $100-200 labor.
DIY guys , remove it and clean it and test it with a hand vacuum pump, if electric use that on car, in special way (ask);

not a big problem. It may be tie rod wearing. If you hear a click when turning it would be the ball joints. If it does not make clicking sound, then most likely tie rod ends or improper alignment

97 Chevy Lumina...wont start after car wash

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. If you have the 97 chevy lumina Car 3.1 you dont have a distributor cap. People really dont need to post unless they know what they are saying.

Now your have 3 coils on the top of your engine water could have easily got under one of them.

Now did the car not turn over at all or did it keep turning over but did not fire up.

2000 chevy lumina

How many miles on it? I know Impalas had a problem with the catalytic converters getting clogged. A clogged cat will give the same symptoms. No or little acceleration.

I would not recommend driving it like this. Take it into a shop, most shops provide a free inspection.
